The reason I ask is that I have been getting a slightly harsh downshift from 2nd to 1st when I slow down. Do you think that could be caused by the solenoid pack?

With wear numbers that good and that much additive left in the oil I should be able to do 8k easy while still leaving a TBN cushion. If the silicon number was high I wouldn't do it, but it looks like the AEM Dryflow filter is doing it's job pretty well.

Re: *ding* Oil Light

Im at whits end with this one. only after driving for awhile (approx. 7+ miles) my oil light pops up EVERYTIME im come to idle. If I rev the motor at all, it goes away until it falls back down to idle. Mine did the exact same thing, put in a new oil pressure sender and have not had a problem since.

Don't get your panties in a wad man. I said the specialty socket I bought was 6.99, and you said "a socket is cheaper than that" I assume you were talking about a plain deep well? and I said I thought that 6.99 was pretty cheap even for an off brand, meaning the oil pressure socket I got at autozone...

My light would come on after the engine was at operating temp and when I came to a stop. Put in a new sensor problem solved.

I suggest if you don't have a 1/1-16 deep well socket, (someone must have borrowed mine) just buy the oil pressure sensor socket at autozone, only cost $6.99.

Yeah, it's nearly a 40 weight. Strong oil, but I noticed a little more turbo lag with it.

quick question. . . another SRT forum was discussing oils as well. . . so i was wondering what do you guys feel about Castrol Syntec Edge 0-30?? opinions/suggestions? I ran a couple OCI's on Syntec 0W-30 in my SRT4, it performed well, stayed in grade. In my opinion it was the best oil Castrol made ...

Oil color is a poor indicator of the condition of the oil, to really find out whats going on with your oil you need to run a UOA.

Champion spark plugs is a division of Federal-Mogul,

Champion Labs is it's own company that makes various filtering products.

They breathe better yes, but don't filter anything smaller than a bird. The silicon in the oil would go through the roof which = excessive engine wear.

I agree with racer, I would pull a sample for a UOA with a TBN at 5000, then you would know how far you could push it.

I have no doubt that Amsoil makes top notch lubricants, I just think you can get similar results from off the shelf synthetics as well.

Again, just curious as to what air filter you are running as high silicone is most often related to the air filter, either the type or a leak.

Isn't it Donaldson? Sorta, WIX makes a lot of the EaO line of filters, the rest are made by Amsoil using the donaldson syntec media. How do you figure your engine is not wearing at all with copper and iron numbers that high? Here is the last UOA from my SRT4 using M1 0W-40. Oil filter was a M1 (mad...

Can you post the actual numbers? I was going to ask what air filter you are running, because it is highly unlikely the silicone is from the oil filter. BTW guess who makes the Amsoil oil filter.

does the growling or howling ever go away?? or is it constant when the engine is running? could be a bad pump...... It quiets completely once it has warmed up. P/S Pump Howling?

When cold, near freezing, in the mornings my P/S pump makes a loud howling/ groaning noise. The fluid is full and new. I had to replace the P/S reservoir over the summer because it had a crack, but I did not replace the o-ring on the pressure hose that goes into the bottom of the pump. There is a sm...
