I'm a big fan of this guy's approach. http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/ People who install their own bellypans/wheel well liners and other aerodynamic treatment also testify that it has reduced road noise in addition to getting better gas mileage. While a lot of things do add weight, there are o...

Looks cool. What turned me off of mirrors like that was the lack of autodimming or flipping them up at night. I don't remember finding any, I'd fear everyone else's headlights. I tried an autodimming mirror from a 2500 Ram that's slightly wider, only to find that it was annoying having to look at th...

IIRC the PT center console is taller in the back, but could be used if that portion was trimmed down to match the floor pan. Then again, the portion that has the screws to mount it may be different as well, you might end up with a huge gap. You can see what I'm talking about in this auction. http://...

I am fairly certain you have to use the spacer that's between the base and the shifter to use the pt cruiser shifter. http://www.robertsmedia.net/underconsole.jpg It will probably require longer bolts/studs. I've seen it posted as a budget short throw shifter over on neons.org, there is probably mor...

35 in fifth is great for gas mileage. Best mileage is achieved typically at the lower revs in whatever the top gear is. When it was warm, I was able to get a hair over 60mpg by doing so (in my slightly modified first gen, observed in real time with my scangaugeII, on level ground). As speed increas...

Low rpm/higher load. You'll be at a more efficient spot on the brake specific fuel consumption map. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brake_specific_fuel_consumption If you're at a lower speed, you'll also have the advantage of less drag on your side. Not only from the air, but from rolling resistance. F...

You actually save gas with heavier acceleration. not if it gets you to the red light or stop sign faster. That's why you drive like a normal person when it comes to things like that. In no way did I suggest heavily accelerating to a stop sign where you'd have to slam on the brakes. not really...

One important factor would be the ethanol content of the gas you're using. E10 will get worse mileage than straight gasoline. Not really true. With a carburetor/distributor controlling the spark curve, more likely, but the PCM can make up for it. I have used up to 4 gallons of E85, and not seen muc...
