ticking noise

so i recently bought a 2002 4d low output neon and it has 71k on it and it started developing a ticking noise, a friend said it might be the lifters, but i'm sure you guys would know much better than he, any ideas? oh, the noise varies with engine rpm and i believe it sounds like metal on metal, i c...

99 times out of 100 it will not be as loud and will sound worse. If you take the time/effort to seal off the front of the box it might be louder with the seats down but that is a lot of work. I would just buy/make some grills. 99% is exaggerated to say the least. the only way for the OP to find out...

A center channel would ruin your sound stage since music is almost always recorded in 2 separate channels. Adding the center channel would make your stereo sound mono, or perhaps cause you to not hear some of the music. If you get your left and right speakers set up right (ie time alignment) it will...

An amp will sound better or worse depending on its quality, but only to a certain extent. The box has a much MUCH bigger impact on the way a sub will sound, so with that in mind what are the box specs? pics would be great too

get a level 2 or level 3 in a proper box, knu koncepts 8 gauge kit for 20 bucks shipped, decent h/u, set of components up front run off the front two channels of a 4 channel and run the rear channels to the sub

The way a sub sounds comes from almost entirely the box. Any air leaks will be detrimental to the output and sound. oh, and to the above post, not enough port.....

I just spaced mine out 3/4" and didnt have a problem, i actually have a little bit of extra room. When i put sheetmetal and deadener over the large hole the panel wouldnt properly close so i just discretely put a screw where there was a small space for it on the bottom of the door panel

any kind of wire carrying a constant supply of power (direct current) will create a small magnetic field around it. If any signal wires cross over the power wires it can create a humming commonly known as alt whine. does the pitch of the whine change with the rpm of the car, or is it a constant freq...
