Update: I decided to go ahead with a change in solvents as a last resort to gutting the cat. I sprayed a GENEROUS amount of PB Blaster - Citrus Degreaser (NOT the regular blaster) into the cat. I have to say, Im amazed with the results. Since I was unable in my searching to find a confirmation of th...

Bill, you are seriously THE MAN. I cant thank you enough for all the help. Few more questions, then I promise Im done, lol. You said gutting the cat with it on the car is going to be a PITA, and I'm considering my options for the best way to do it. With the downpipe unbolted from the header and mini...

Thanks again occasional demons. You told me exactly what I need to know, but theres one thing I want to clarify. The issue seems to be that the cat in the downpipe is clogged. It seems that a peice of the ULEV cat broke apart, clogging up the second cat. Because the car has no CEL's, is it safe to a...

occasional demons, excellent diagnosis!! I started today by removing the o2 sensor and started the car.. it revved freely! So clearly we're working with a clogged cat. So I unbolted the four bolts just after the header, and again started the car.. even better than before. So I did a bit of googling ...

Your best bet is going to be figuring out WHY your ac isnt working. Its going to take FAR more work to swap over the entire ac system than it would to simply repair your existing system. Figure out whats not working or where the leak is, and replace those parts from a junkyard. These cars are everyw...

How would I verify that the cat is not clogged? It does appear to have been replaced.. it looks newer than the rest of the exhaust- but I did consider a clogged cat as well..

Can I remove the cat and clean it with carb cleaner or something?

Just did a compression test- 180psi across the board. Plugs are very black with carbon, I assume it's running rich. My first thought was an o2 sensor, but wouldn't a bad o2 cause a check engine light?

2000 Neon engine problems.. help!

Picked this car up to use as a cheap daily, knowing it would need some tlc to be running right again. The car is a 2000 neon ES with a 3 speed automatic. Car starts and runs, and will idle as long as i want it to. The problem is when I rev it up, that rpm's climb slowly, and max out at 3000. Once it...
