Sorry. Didn't get back in awhile. Broke the timing belt! So, got it towed home. Putting the car in gear and pushing, I do not hear any metal on metal when the crank turns, so I do not believe the valves are damaged. Do you guys think it is worth tearing down and trying to save, by throwing in a new ...

Need help. Car dead on side of freeway!

So, about an hour ago, I am on my way to work. Driving on the freeway normally, going 70MPH (The speed limit), cars is running fine. Then out of nowhere the check engine light comes on and the engine is just dead. I coast off the to the side and kick on my hazards. I try to restart the car, and the ...

I ordered mine remanned via online for $220, and had to send them my VIN, Mileage, and the original's part number. (Which can be found on the bottom of the unit. Just, have to jack the car up and get under to read it.) Got the new one a week later, and it installed quick and easy, and works a charm....

I would think iridiums would last longer than a year. But anything is possible. If the oil has gotten high enough in there it could foul out the plug. This is exactly what happened. The tube was about 1.5" raised up, the bottom was full of oil. I reseated the tube and cleaned it out. Pulled the plu...

Well, since I just changed the wires and plugs last April, they should be good. I even spent extra and got the NGK Iridium Plugs.

Though, it may be time to redo the IM gasket and tube seals. I had some oil in 2 of the tubes when I did the change, and had to reseat all four of tubes.

This morning I turned on the car, and had a solid CEL. So I pulled codes again, and got a P0304. (Cylinder #4 Misfire) I'm guessing the old PCM didn't detect it, because it was faulty, seeing how I didn't touch the plugs when I swapped the PCMs. (Unless it is was a really well timed coincidence that...

Is this normal? (CEL issue after replacing PCM)

So I got a P0601 a week ago, and my 2001 started running rough. (It was also running too rich. My replacement PCM arrived today and I swapped it out. Immediately after reconnecting everything and starting the car up, it sounded (and smelled) far better. Afterwards I took it for a drive, to give the ...

Thought I should reply so others may find an answer. I spoke with a mechanic friend of mine, shortly after my last post. He came over, looked at my two cylinders (Old and New), and then just pulled the rod out of my old one and put it into my new one. Problem solved. I didn't know you could do that,...

Sorry to rez a dead thread, but I am having the exact same issue. My replacement slave's rod doesn't compress enough to install in my 2001. Do you still by chance have the part number for that adapter, as my local Dodge dealership seems to be run by people who have very little knowledge and also see...

I haven't noticed any other issues with the clutch. If I am driving and shifting between 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 -5, there are no issues. The only difference between shifting while driving and the above mentioned issue is the amount of time I am holding the clutch pedal down. It seems that if I only press the...

I have been lurking here since buying my 2001 SE a few months ago. Your site has been wonderful in helping me work with my new ride. This is the second Neon I've owned. My first was a 1999 R/T, which was a great car mechanically. Just all the minor stuff sucked. (The moonroof kept falling out of it'...

Clutch Cyliders issue?

Since I bought my 2001 a few months ago, there is a shifting problem slowly getting worse. Here's the issue: When you have it in a gear such as 1st or Rev and you hold the clutch pedal in for more than a few seconds, the shifter becomes locked in place. You cannot remove it from gear until you relea...
