Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

@ MNSH... AWESOME ride there! Glad to hear it won't see SNOW! My rides do, but other than our plain jane Neon, they also do FINE in the crap we get here. Even our now retired 98 Avenger (coupe) did fine with no ABS and all season tires! I drive an 04 T&C, and that thing is like a tank in even the wor...

Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

I think you and Neon will be much happier with performance once all parts come in and are installed. Looks like good progress being made, I know that even with the SOHC 2.0 that I'm not thrilled about working on the firewall side of the motor! BUT I've had to work on worse applications than that in ...

Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

As far as the teflon tape...I'd go with a liquid thread sealer from Loctite, it's in a HIGH heat area, and you can see the seepage from the original fitting. Test fit before install is the name of the game with anything that connects to something else! BUT that manifold crack is not going to get any...

Re: Peace and greetings everyone

Hello there and welcome to the forum! Our 04 base model sits low enough for our poor roadways, so I've had no interest in such a change to be of help. BUT I'm sure that that topic is well covered in the suspension heading page for you to look thru.

Re: Anyone know the common fail points for an 04 base Neon? A?C?

Well my son has just 2 more days of work requiring 100 mile round trips, and then it drops to 70 miles a day for commuting to local college. Which he's already been doing for the past week and then the summer job on the weekend. The little car is doing very well now that I laid the law down on how m...

Re: List of RTV sealants and their applications

Haha came back to this thread to check the equivalent of Mopar engine gen 2 rtv. Doing oil pan gasket and have to put that stuff in two corners. Have ultra black rtv When I replaced the cast pan on our 2.0, which uses a metal center "sandwich" (thin rubber) gasket. I applied a THIN coat to both sid...

Re: I really dislike forum search results!

OK, I found one thread about this subject by just scrolling thru this forum page ... and posted there on it also. Seems no real conclusion was made, but I tend to think the "oil wicking" in the harness connector and thru the wires core may be the source of trouble. That or relaxed pin connection in ...

Dormant thread...but yes our 04 2.0 SOHC will set a code that will disappear on the next start and the light turns off once motor is running. But has never turned on the CEL for it.

I really dislike forum search results!

OK, I've said it and it is not just this site that forum search really annoyed...Can't find anything for a subject I'm looking for info on. So here goes the question. Our 04 2.0 SOHC has always seemed to every so often leave the oil warning lamp lit at start up. No noise, and yes has plenty of oil i...

Re: Anyone know the common fail points for an 04 base Neon? A?C?

My son is taking much better care of the little Neon, no "episodes" yet, and at 2500 miles I just topped the motor oil up to full with 1/3 of a quart of conv. 10-30 that's running in it this oil change. He's been putting on at least 700 miles a week on the little car!

Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

Turbos have LONG had their longevity troubles ...all the way back to WW11 aircraft engines! Heat "coking" on shutdown of the oil feed/return on a HOT turbo is the most common cause. That"s why a number of years ago they came out with add on electric oil pumps to keep oil flowing on shut down and als...

If not for the fact that our 98 Avenger is on the sale block at this moment, last Mopar vehicle I'd have to come with would be my 04 T&C van...The Avenger was replaced by an 08 Pontiac G6 gt a week ago! Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

Maybe a couple thousandths but not what your video shows. I had an 85 600 2.2 turbo 2dr hardtop long ago, looks like seals and bearings for the turbo if you can get it apart. In my NY RUST area even the waste gate links corroded apart, didn't even bother trying to split the turbo itself from all the...

Re: MyNeonSaysHi Mod Log: Stone White

That's one heck of a great looking ride there! Too bad, but it looks like time to do a serious turbo rebuild or replacement there should be NO play in the turbo shaft in any direction! that lets pressure past the turbo seals and beck into the motor, what kind of oil consumption are you getting?

Well, so far so good for the little Neon. Have not done anything more with it for A/C, but do check tires and fluids(son still won't do that). Son's driving habits have improved tremendously since he found out that getting out of the speeding ticket is going to cost him in the area of $300.00 that H...
