Re: 2.2L Turbo Diesel?
Actually live in NorthAm, but it's fairly easy to get pretty much anything through US customs as long as it's listed for personal use(I actually buy some books and hardcopy software from amazon UK this way since it ends up cheaper, even with international shipping, and some things just never got rel...

Re: 2.2L Turbo Diesel?
The glowplugs are definitely part of that 2.2L. It seems that one of the models it fit to was the c230 Kompressor, which also has several, beefier, turbodiesel engines - including a 3.8l v6. assuming that the engine mounts remain a direct fit across the board, I'd say wiring harness, pcm and motor w...

2.2L Turbo Diesel?
Saw there was a non-US production model of the pt cruiser from 2003-2009 utilizing a 2.2L inline-four turbodiesel from Mercedes-Benz . I can find them in crate form, wondering if anybody has done the swap into an '05 neon, is it similarly plug-n-play as the 2.4 swap or is this going to be a much mor...

Re: Looks like it’s time for an engine swap
A bit of necro posting here but it’s in the same vein so I didn’t see a need for a new thread. I have a 2005 sxt with a blown motor and a 2.4l non turbo pt engine. Same deal as listed above? Both are from automatics. So as I understand it I will need: PT: motor mounts Exhaust manifold PS pump and re...

Re: Car is redlining itself with no driver input
Notes: I don’t have floor mats. I think it may be a broken pedal return spring since the gas peddle is…. Loose as a goose suddenly.

Car is redlining itself with no driver input
So that brake light is still on, we’ll preface with that - I replaced brakes, master cylinder, serviced the ATX(twice) replaced the two non-timing belts, threw new pack coil and wires on it. The car had, after all, been sitting in a yard for a year before I bought it so basic tune up stuff seemed in...

My ECU seems to be stuck in ‘learn mode’ for the security chip keys
Not really sure what topic this would go in so here goes: ‘02 SE. ATX if it matters. There is a(manually verified) security key system(needs the chip). However the car seems to be stuck in ‘learn mode’ for new keys like when you use two keys to move it into the 10 quick CEL flashes at ignition to us...

Re: I think it might be the ECU?
No to all the above… except the ABS thing. As far as I’m aware ABS came standard on the 02 SE. didn’t think to check the abs wheel sensors, it doesn’t have the ABS-logo light on the display panel(as I’m not present at all, illuminated or not) but that may have been added in later models? If it is a ...

Re: How much work am I looking at
Undoubtedly my fault, I went to view it late at night and the guy listed it as an 03. Similar enough that I bought it before checking the title and seeing it was an 02. I should probably learn Spanish if I’m going to buy from non-English speakers.

I think it might be the ECU?
02 SE ATX. Brake indicator light won’t shut off. Brakes work absolutely fine. Midas tried to tell me it was a ‘level fill sensor(built into the master cylinder of course)’ or ‘brake switch’ however neither of these parts fixed the issue. There’s no hardness or sponginess to the brakes at all. If I t...

How much work am I looking at
The last year and a half of COVID shelved my plans for a project neon, resulting in the sale of my ATX 05. Which was fine, I had a new dart for work and things were swell. Now I find myself with time on my hands and an itch to actually project on something. Scored an ‘02 neon with 94k miles on it, a...

The Canada vin search link doesn’t work anymore. Just scored an ‘02 in almost perfect condition with under 100k in western wa, how do you find the production number now by using the vin?

Re: Help me diagnose this
weird air assembly metal thingY that draws 4-1 that hooks in between the cat and the block whose name I can’t recall, Exhaust manifold? that was it So basically it will not idle? Or just loses power when driving/low RPM? it idles fine unless I turn off all the accessories. Then it idles down low(65...

Actually on the other coast :x but... you guys this thing is going to drive me insane. Yeah. Then it came back again. /headdesk - I tested the compression when it first started doing this and we were a-ok but on a whim I tested again and I’m hosed. Bottom end on 2/4 cylinders.

Looks like it’s time for an engine swap
My recurring idle issue finally came back around on my ‘05 ATX SXT and I’ve got bottom end compression issues so yeah. I can grab an 80k mi 05 sxt engine locally or a 94k 2.4L non turbo vin type B from a ‘06 PT cruiser - I figure if I’m doing the swap anyway... a few questions on this: It ‘should be...

Re: Help me diagnose this
Tested with pvc and it’s definitely the part. I’ll grab the new mopar replacement since it’s ... the same price as an hour for them to inspect it, which was going to be my next step anyway. Been shooting for ‘stock within 10% of all factory limits’ as stage one on the project anyway. Afterward I get...

Re: Help me diagnose this
Plastic seems worn on it, no visible holes, but the sound always comes from there, seemingly centered in the blows contraption - roommate and I played with it a bit, it’s still the factory one so probably a pinhole. Dodge calls it a ‘throttle body duct’ and it’s $150. I’ll swap it out on Monday and ...

Re: Help me diagnose this
Right. Gone through everything. Almost entirely certain it’s a computer issue but my mechanic ran one of those performance Computer plugin devices, which I can’t justify dropping 2 grand to get one of, that lets you monitor performance and it wasn’t reading anything wrong(With idle, airflow, map fun...

147k on it. Went down the list and nothing. Mechanic thinks it’s a floating blockage somewhere in the lines. Nothing for it but to blow them all out and/or replace them all. I’m thinking he may be right as the issue got much worse after I put in a granatelli coil pack - like the extra power pushed t...

Help me diagnose this
05 neon SXT ATX acting like it has a vacuum leak occasion and throwing a code p0441. Did the propane test and my mechanic did the carb cleaner test and neither of us found a vacuum leak. Replaced the gas cap, twice. Choppy vibrating idle at all speeds under 30mph and Idle sometimes drops to 400-500 ...

Seen mention of Ford Mustang IAC being used on neons here. My IAC is finally failing to the point of either clean it daily or finally replace it so replacement incoming - any reason to do the mustang IAC with stock TB on 05 SXT?

Perfect sleeper wheels?
Shopping around for better wheels that still look close enough to stock to not draw extra attention from law enforcement... or car prowlers. Thinking these might be perfect for my purposes, especially since planning to wrap kumho ecstas around them: https://www.ebay.com/itm/15x7-Rota-SLIPSTREAM-5x10...

Looking at that chart the 205/55/15 seems really close to stock with only a 3mm difference. Would the much wider tire be a better grip on cornering in wet conditions or am I do fused on how that works?

How much does the pcm control?
Thoughts for a sleeper project include putting a Mercedes autoclutch transmission into my ATX ‘05 SXT - I’d like to do this at the same time as a PT Cruiser 2.4 NA swap but I’m wondering just how much fine tuning is going to be required. The autoclutch tranny uses a lot of extra electronic component...
