Cranking Problem

My car has been having a cranking problem recently. It did it the 4th time tonight, much longer than before. Normally my car starts right up when I turn the key "normally." Well when this problem occurs, the car doesnt turn on and takes a few cranks to fire up. Tonight the car didnt start the first ...

Lol. It's fine, but I wish I could get a tighter PS/AC belt. I'm uing the smallest it will go, because the next size down is slightly too tight and wont slip over, and there is no half size in between.

I blew my motor... :(

Video says it all... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBHPXkJkCbE But really, all happened was the it threw my power steering / AC belt, which also tore up my alternator belt I think. There was a loose piece from the belt slapping something metal. I was sooo scarred it was a spun bearing, but the car ...

I never had the whine before, but once I installed my underdrive pulley, the whine started. It's just louder than my first belt that almost flew off on me. When I think back to it though, on my first neon when I changed my belts, it whined also. Could be that the belt is a tad too tight. I'll check ...

"supercharger whine" from alt belt...

I have a "supercharger" like whine from my alternator belt. Is this because I might have it on too tight? I made it tighter than before, because last time I didn't have it tight enough and this happened... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v650/danman132x/CIMG3083.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albu...

We'll I found out why my alt belt was "squealing". My belt slipped off on the pulley, towards the inside. Lucky it didn't fly off while I was driving, but it did shread one of the ribs off, and starting wearing into my timing belt cover. I used my other belt I had laying around and it fit great too....

Yea, my stock one was definetly not "straight" while spinning and had a wobble. For an ebay pulley, this one is great. 36 shipped to my door. I'm going to edit my original post later on too and organize it slightly more.

Thats a good idea with the threadlocker. I'm going to do that, ad i'm also going to try my hardest to put the 4040490 belt on for the AC/PS belt. It squeals when I start the car, and i'm also going to tighten the alt belt a tad.

If you turn it blue you are messing with the heat treatment of the pulley. I put mine in the oven for 10 or 15 minutes. It slid right on, all but a little bit and then the bolt brought in on the rest of the way. I didn't want to turn it blue, but it was the only way it slid on for me. Oven at 450 f...

Just an update, I've been driving around now for a few days, got plenty of city and highway driving in, and it's a lot better I have to say. Everything I read is true. The car does not bog down as much when the A/C kicks on, my a/c is still icy for being in florida, the car is smoother throughout th...

How To: Ebay UnderDrive Pulley install

We'll I received my ebay underdrive pulley and installed it. Here are some guidelines to follow. It is really worth it to install one of these. It was frustrating along the way at times, but nothing you can't handle. I first took my tire off, removed the splash guard, disconnected the negative batte...

I also have the PT clutch from Modern. I have it about 3K miles now, and it's great. I drove gently the first 500 miles to break it in, and have no problems, and went to the strip and did bout 13 passes on it, no problems whatsoever. You can sorta use this as a guide for reference: http://forum.2gn....

I heard installing the ODP almost negates any gains from the UDP. I upgraded my grounds and don't really have too much of a problem. Never been stranded once. I bit the bullet and bought one. I have a feeling I'm going to love this new mod when I get both pulleys in. I ALWAYS tell myself i'm done buying stuff for the neon, but then again I end up buying something else, no matter how small it may be.
