They aren't wired together I don't think. When I took my stock door speakers out the was only 2 wires on the connector. You should be hearing sound from your dash speakers. The popping may indicate a short, My one speaker started popping little by little and got worse. Turned out to be a loose conne...

Sounds like the time I must of left the cap loose of the 5 gallon of used oil in the trunk of moms old Solara. During the trip it tipped over. I had to pay for the new carpet on that one
