LOL, nope, not looking for a Santa Fe, just commenting on the writer's lack of understanding terms. But I get your point. It's the same as people complaining about Subaru not offering a turbo Forester anymore. The sales weren't stellar, but all the "keyboard buyers" threw a fit when it was dropped. ...

Re: "Performance Parts"... LOL

Regardless of the brand, it's just sad that people writing about the automotive market think that style accessories are performance parts.

It's like calling an SRT-D a performance package, when in truth, it most likely hurts performance by a small degree.

"Performance Parts"... LOL

https://www.yahoo.com/autos/2021-hyunda ... 00912.html

Brought to you from Isle 5 at AutoZone.

More like "Style" parts, as not one of those will increase performance.

My bad though, as we all know certain bumper stickers add 5 to 10 hp.

Re: Working on upgrades for my 04 SXT uplooking for some guidance/opinions

None of your current mods are going to significantly add more air and fuel going through the engine. The drop in mileage is probably mostly from your foot, being sucked into the more aggressive sound the motor is now making. I was still getting up to 40 mpg with my '01, with a 60mm TB, short ram int...

Welcome! Well, I wouldn't say this forum, or neons.org are exactly balls of fire in activity, but we are still active, among about 5 or 6 people on here, maybe 12 on the .org. Re: Intermittent buzzing type noise as I drive over uneven roads

My best guess is the heat shield for the exhaust tunnel has dropped, or is about to drop onto the exhaust pipe. the aluminum rots away around the fasteners, and the shield falls. If the fasteners will come loose, you can get some fender washers, and re attach the heat shield.

Re: Tricks for nondestructive exhaust removal?

If memory serves me correctly, the clamps are spot welded to the factory pipe. It's been 11 years since I have removed the factory pipes and went with TruBenz stainless. I used Walker band clamp style clamps to connect the new pipes. They don't crush the pipe like u bolt clamps, and make removal a b...

Re: Tricks for nondestructive exhaust removal?

Keep soaking the joints with penetrating oil. The exhaust was pretty well rusted on my '01, the clamp bolt had even nearly rotted in two, but with a bit of soaking, and then using the muffler as a leverage tool, I kept twisting it up and down from the outlet end, and got the pipes to come apart. The...

Re: 2000 Neon 2.0 SOHC Engine Swap

The PCM does not know what engine it is controlling. As long as the sensors are compatible, it doesn't care. The cam magnet only tells the PCM what phase the cam is in, so it will inject fuel in time with the intake valve opening. The crank sensor is what tells the PCM where the pistons are for the ...

Re: 2000 Neon 2.0 SOHC Engine Swap

The cam magnet doesn't make a lot of difference. At least with my experience. If you move it far enough, the engine will just not fire. So basically, you can move it in both directions, until it doesn't start, and put it in the middle of that. What I did the first time, was use a small square, and m...

Any MTX from a 1995 to 2000 neon. IIRC, everything else is a hydraulic actuated clutch. Some are 3.55 final drive, and some are 3.94. And the 5th gears are 0.81 and 0.72 overdrive. If yours is original, it has the 3.94/0.72 combination. https://www.neons.org/forumdodge/trans.htm It has to be a cable...

Is there a way to check an make sure that the injectors are working when they are suppose to or do they all work at the same time? We haven't gotten rain for weeks now. Most of the storms/rain goes right around us. I have been mowing the grass with the deck all the way up, just to knock the weeds off, and keep them from spreading seeds. It has also helped to keep the grass from getting so brown, though that is beginning to be a...

Re: Looks like it’s time for an engine swap

2.4 swap will require the engine mounts/brackets, exhaust manifold, etc from the PT, so grab as much as you can. IIRC, you may even need the PS pump from the PT. I think the reservoir is a bit different than the neon unit. Basically plug and play, as the engines are phased the same, unlike the 2002 ...

Re: Help me diagnose this

If the body is in good shape, and you could do the work yourself, a JY engine would probably be cheaper than a replacement car. Being an '05, the engines have a bit more availability. But if it is rotting out, I don't think I would dump the cash and effort into it. IDK if you bought it new or used, ...

Unless you are seriously low on fuel pressure, 32 lb injectors should be flooding that engine. With 21lb injectors, and 63 psi, mine runs pig rich and loads up at idle. Even when I pull the fuel pump relay, it never clears up, and stalls before that happens. my injectors were brand new, and this has...
