My 01 doesn't have a gas light that comes on. Maybe there's something wrong with it but one time i did fill up and it took 11.8 gallons.

With that setup in the trunk it doesn't look like you really lost any trunk space. Looks great. I like the idea of the lids too so you can still use it. someday i might be interested in something like that. My trunk gets kinda cramped in the back with my strut bar.
