You got me thinking... If you were to put the cam out of phase completely, I think it would still run on MS. Ignoring the cam signal, and using wasted spark, I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work just fine. That would be amazing if he just turned his cam magnet and went about his merry way, ...

2nd semi-annual SW Wisconsin Neon meet
So I had one last October, time for another one 6 months later! =Let's put a start time around noon, but feel free to show up earlier. Last time we just sat around, BS'd and looked at each other's Neons, ate, and that was about it. Wasn't too bad, but we can do a cruise as well if wanted. I'll provi...

These roll pins: http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c115/chipkinnett/DSCN0555.jpg ??? I know the thread is old, but people still check it apparently. (someone searched!!!). To remove them, you need a good ROLL PIN PUNCH and a good hammer. The pins like to get stuck. I usually need an air hammer (not ...

http://www.neons.org/tire/speed.shtml The taller 5th in a 3.94 is almost identical to the 3.55 HD 5th, since it's a .81 in the later 3.55's. 3.55 x .81 = 2.8755 3.94 x .72 = 2.8368 Your revs will be slightly LOWER with the 3.94 and taller (.72) 5th gear when compared to the later 3.55's with the .8...

Please post a pic. You won't be able to tig weld the case. It's not pure aluminum like you'd normally weld, it has some silicon in it to help release it from the mold. You can still use the stuff inside, I can easily swap them into another case and set the preload on the differential. I do it all th...

They are full of crap, these cases are not "known to crack". They only crack if something is wrong. If they rebuilt it and cracked it, they should fix it for free. It had to be put together wrong, they likely forced the bellhousing on by impacting the bolts instead of making sure it was all lined up...

How much did you pay the dealer to rebuild it? PT cruisers came with 3.94 final drive. Not sure on the diff tabs, probably not in 2001. I would NEVER take a 5-speed trans to a dealer to rebuild. It'd be rare to find that any of the technicians were trained on the T-350 since they haven't been made f...

I haven't actually tried it that way, I dropped the trans instead. It's just a pain in the ass no matter how you do it. I think removing the outer timing cover might make it easier, any little bit of extra space helps. Oh it helps tremendously. I pulled it off obviously cuz it was all busted to shi...

U think there's any way I could take the engine bracket off and jack the engine up high enough (or low enough) to get it out? Once you have the bracket off, you just use the hole in the outer timing cover to get the mount out. The service manual says to lower the jack and position the mount inside ...

If you have a 5-speed, supposedly you can unbolt all the mounts, remove the large motor mount bracket plate, and slide the engine/trans far enough towards driver's side to get it out. If you have an auto, I found it's much easier just to remove the plate and the timing cover. I tried it with the tim...

One would hope they weren't putting ATF in an '01. IDK how compatible it is with the Mopar fluid. I doubt it was anything special either. They buy oil by the barrel and don't have a huge variety, for obvious reasons. I have no problem taking DD's or beaters to quick lubes, but only for oil changes....

Possbily, best bet is to refill it with the proper fluid and see what it does. They aren't hard to rebuild, but they are definitely easy to screw up if you don't know what you are doing and don't have the proper tools. Several sets of snap ring pliers, bearing splitter, and a good press are also too...

Yea, no way I'd trust an oil change shop to change my transmission fluid. The fluid change might make a huge difference.. I don't know how much a new 5 speed tranny (new used I mean) costs but for the cost of internal parts....plus you not knowing how to do it (not saying you can't learn but for th...
