They filled your trans too? Where do you take it? Don't assume someone at Jiffy Lube knows what to put in your trans. I'm pretty sure their "atf" is just a "universal" type fluid. Do yourself a favor, change it yourself. It's easy. Get 3 qts of 5w-30 Mobil 1 synthetic HIGH MILEAGE engine oil, a funn...

To get to the 5th synchro, the trans needs to come out, and the case split in half. Then you need to know what you are doing in there.

What fluid are you running?

$500 isn't bad if it includes the trans. I charge $1200 to rebuild/modify them. If the cable is stretched, it'd likely do it in 1st and 3rd as well. When you shift into 1-3-5, it pulls on the cable that's attached to the shift selector. If it doesn't get all the way into gear where the synchro locks...

Check your mounts, and also check the fluid level in the trans. There is a rubber plug behind the driver's side tire, at about 2 o'clock compared to the driver's side axle. With car on level ground, pull the plug. Fluid should be at the bottom of the hole. Low fluid can cause it to pop out of 5th. 5...

It has only been driven about 4000-5000 miles in the last 4 years due to me having a company car. Best job perk ever, I don't even have a car registered (in my name) right now, haven't since we gave my sister my '04 SXT for a wedding present. Out of all the cars out there, just the '04 SXT and the ...

They used the T850, also rare as hens teeth. IIRC the final drive is numerically higher than what is in the SRT. Ive never heard of a A588 trans code. lol that reminds me of the old mopar codes. A904, A518, A999, etc. Tro In the Chrysler parts books I have, the T-350 is referred to as the A578.

Don't buy one that's been molested. Especially if it's wiring related. 90% of people have no clue what they are doing and you'll find that out when you start digging into it.

The pans like to leak too. If you drop the pan, might as well change the filter.

Also, don't use the worthless rubber gasket that comes with most filter kits. It'll probably leak again. Use ATF RTV from Chrysler, or equivalent. I think I'm 0-4 on those damn rubber gaskets.

Exactly. Our '04 has averaged over 20k a year, we're 2nd owners.

I put an average of 500 miles a week on my work van, it'll have 28k on it when it hits the 1 year mark.

The pin isn't a press fit, there's a small roll pin holding it into place that breaks, usually when the spider gears grab ahold of the pin and spin it. Then it's free to come out unless it has diff saver tabs. I don't even use the retaining pin, only the diff pin saver tabs to hold it in. There is n...

My '11 Chevy Express is almost at 21k. Got it last April. Work van.

$1200. Just pull fuel pump relay and start car, run till it dies. No need to mess with injector clips, you'll lose those stupid red things. Numbers vary, you can't just look at a compression ratio and say what the number will be. Depends on atmospheric pressure, but mostly depends on cams. Longer duration ...

I can see a differential having an effect when turning, but in a straight line, there shouldn't be any influence. Well there can, but I think it would be a constant pull, not throttle related. (other than torque steer, but I don't think that is the issue at hand) http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c...

If it's stuck in 2nd gear it'll go well over 30 mph and stay at higher rpms. 2nd gear is good to like 50-60.

It'll also take forever to get there.

I've had a trans problem cause a nasty pull before. It was a 5-speed and one of the spider gears blew up and exited the case. I doubt this happened to you though since there's no hole in your case. If there is a problem with your differential, it can cause a pulling issue. I'm no auto expert, I tend...

Yeah since it's been split open, it doesn't matter what used to seal it. It no longer seals it. When he puts it back together, that's what I was asking about. Too many use RTV since it's cheaper and easier to find. I use Loctite 518 anaerobic sealer and the green primer crap for it. Pretty sure it's...

Fluid doesn't get splashed up until the differential turns, so basically once the car starts rolling. During the winter it's also a bit thicker when cold.

Why was it split in half? And no diff pin tabs installed? The bearing surface on the output shaft isn't as smooth as I'd like it.

What was used to seal it?

It's a 3.94 HD trans though.

Crank sensors don't usually throw codes because the engine doesn't know the crank is turning. It's as if you killed it. Not sure why it doesn't see the cam sensor and toss a code when it only gets an input from there though. Of course not all crank sensors die the same. I had one that took forever t...

I've never had luck with any of those sensor from Autozone. I always use OEM sensors, they seem to last a lot longer even if they came from a junk car. Same here. I prefer used OEM sensors over parts stores sensors. Even a new "high end" oil pressure sensor in our '04 seems to stick. About 1 in 4 t...
