personally i would go with a thicker oil. i am getting a valve train noise too. and will be going with 10w40 and a bottle of lucas oil additive when i do my oil change just to see if that lessens my noise. if not its not a head problem and it will be time to do a motor swap for me.

your car is OBD-II and the 95 ecu is OBD-I. best bet is to look into some sort of "piggy back" fuel and air controler. or even getting a mopar ECU.

its the belt itself its dry and probably cracked. i would replace it. its the piece of mind that it wont break going down the road.

i am betting its Rockers, because the Previous owner drove it 10k as it sits, and more than likely beat the piss out of it. and its not rod knock because i have had plenty of vehicles that developed rod knock and this doesnt sound like anything i have heard before(rod knock wise)

its loud. and really really annoying. and its a constant sound either warm or cold. its slightly louder at idle(cold) but not by much.

Welcome. The SOHC does not have lifters, just rocker arms on a rocker shaft. You are likely hearing piston slap, especially if the sound goes away when warmed up. No big deal. thanks guys i just got the car it needs a lot of cosmetic work and some reworking of the head(or a new head...) has a constant tick that doesnt sound like rod knock
