Good to hear that you have decided to keep that ride...You have done very well overcoming all the "trials" with it and it shows in the pictures you've posted! Chalk it up to "PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT" on work seeming to go easier! I hope the work on my sons girlfriends car goes as well later this week!

Re: Can't get away from Neon's
Been back home now for a bit, and thought I'd update. The Silver Mercury as it has been named is with the young lady and as soon as can be plated when DMV's reopen will be brought back to me to do needed work. I figure she and car to stay with us for 3 days(of course the "lovebirds" don't mind at al...

Re: Can't get away from Neon's
At least it was NOT white(no offense meant to others). both I and family AND most important to the young lady, none of us like all white cars for our own vehicles. They do look sharp, but just as demanding as black to keep clean. AND we have aversions to the color in winter snows here. I had an all ...

Can't get away from Neon's
Okay, Thought I'd start one here as I will end up maintaining this somewhat near to family vehicle. Yes my son's 04 base model will probably soon become a donor car to the 04 SXT that his girlfriend of 3.5 years just bought last evening. I went with them to "check it over" and am JEALOUS. A true one...

Re: Anyone know the common fail points for an 04 base Neon? A?C?
WINTER finally seemed to be over on Mothers Day, so I put on a complete set of 185/70R14 summer treads mounted on K car era rims. I got them in trade for my rusted out and mostly parted out "spare" 04 T&C. The tires were NEW condition. The little car sits a little higher(which I like) but it does no...

5/2/20 UPDATE The Neon is still with us as due to NY DMV offices are closed for the "virus", can't make the plating transaction for the Journey. My friend has also been extremely busy and the Journey finish up work is on hold. The Neon has not sat still in the driveway this long since we first trail...

An 05 with how many miles? 2.0? I'd pull the PCV valve and replace it. Then follow the line down to the rubberhose connection between the intake and throttle body. Oil fumes and residues collect there and deteriorate the rubber, it could have a hole or tear there. IF a 2.0...I don't recall seeing an...

Not to make light of things as NYC really has a BIG problem! Yeah, and the Pontiac(08) G6 Sedan that replaced my 98 Avenger es Coupe was CHEAPER to insure also. And I think the G6 outperforms the Avenger in all driving characteristics(when I get to drive it ALONE)! The little Neon, even with a plain 2.0 was never a "slouch" and was just about as quick (partic...

Re: Anyone know the common fail points for an 04 base Neon? A?C?
UPDATE: Looks like by the end of the month (March) we will be "retiring" the Neon. It's successor will be the 2011 Journey AWD in what they call the Mainstreet trim. Just ran the VIN to find out what trim it was, as there is no trim badging on or in the car. GOOD news is that same coverage as the Ne...

thanks and sorry about your Journey. :( Chrysler products seem to be notorious for trans problems. Oh NO, That is how we are going to get the Journey...once the trans problem is fixed. My friend got it pretty cheap with the problem, either minor solenoid pack fix or putting another trannie into it(...

Well, looks like the poor little car will be heading off to other pastures VERY soon now. Got word today that the '11 AWD Journey only needed shift solenoids and not another trans. He is going to do some other minor repairs (due to age), and sell me the ride for $4k(dropped $500 off what "ballpark" ...

Re: Anyone know the common fail points for an 04 base Neon? A?C?
I just bought a Journey. They're pretty cool vehicles. You got the "face lifted year, and they are very nice. This one is first year offer for 3.6 and AWD with the 6 speed trans also. It's got the slightly smaller screen audio without nav or camera. BUT it still looks nice and has plenty of more mo...
