Both work well. I had one in my ATX and was really pleased with the way i's worked (unfortunately my stock tranny blew + took out the valvebody too). If you're handy with tools and can afford the downtime, then the DIY mod is the way to go; I'll be doing this mod again, but I'll be modding my stock ...

*UPDATE* I had a new Dayco belt installed along with the locknut about 2 weeks ago + all's well. The alternator's STILL just slightly cocked but no biggie. I've driven down to Staten Island, work (120 mile round trip daily), + just back n forth with no problems! =D> . BTW I have to say I looooove my...

Tossing in my .02, I've had my AF/X UDP installed since '02. Aside from having voltage drops to 10.5-11 volts only in the winter with EVERYTHING ON (heat, defroster, lights wipers, etc) I've never had any problems with it. It's definitely worth the money.

I have an extra belt (brand new of course) if anyone wants to buy it off me. I'll doublecheck the belt number when I get home tonight.

Boston Acoustics speakers always worked awesome for me when I used to have my big assed system. They were constantly pushed hard and NEVER had a problem. I Definitely agree with using an Alpine head unit though; even their amps were top notch. My .02 :D .

Throwin' belts

Long story made super short: After doing a load of work with the help of a few friends, my alternator REFUSES to line up with the UDP :banghead: . I've already thrown 2 sets of belts (alternator + p/s, a/c belts) in the past 6 weeks (fun when you drive w/ no alternator or P/S for a 30 mile ride home...

Just out of curiosity how much did Darrel charge you? I know he gave me an astronomical quote on building a custom paddle shift system for my ATX  . Granted it's a one-off piece but I'm still curious.

Nice write up there! I have 2 quick questions though:

1) has anyone figured out how to remove the aluminum(?) block from the firewall?

2) Does that 4040420 belt fit OK with an AF/X UDP? (Dayco has an almost exact part # 5040420, that's supposed to work with the MPx UDP.)
