Wierd thing to me was always that both the DOHC and SOHC got 16 valves.

It's not the valvetrain as much as massive piston slap when cold. You'll find this is a pretty common issue. The problem probably lies within the weak stock deck. For a set of speakers like that you'd really want an external amp because even a 52x4 deck can get overloaded and cause the signal to clip and damage the speakers. I work midnights 10 - 6:30 at Wal-Mart. But, my store is 24hrs so there won't be as many people busting down the door and walking on top of each other. I guess we gotta roll the sale merchandise out with tarps on it and then uncover it at 5 a.m. and get outta the way.
