Looking for Advice on Upgrading Exhaust for My 2004 Neon SXT

Hey everyone!

I'm new to the forum and hoping to get some advice from the community. I’ve got a 2004 Neon SXT, and I’m considering upgrading the exhaust system. I want something that’ll give me a bit more performance, but I’m not looking for anything too loud or over-the-top. Just a nice balance between better flow and a good sound.

Any recommendations on brands or setups that work well with the 2nd-gen Neons? Also, would I need to make any additional modifications along with the exhaust swap? Any tips from your own experiences would be awesome.

Unless there are significant engine mods, you won't see any gains from a better flowing exhaust. About all you can do is get a cat back set up for a bit more aggressive sound.

I'm not sure what is even out there anymore for cat back systems, other than maybe eBay specials. It has been 19 years since the last model year, and a lot of the aftermarket has evaporated, other than stuff from Modern Performance, which really takes away from the options that used to be out there.

Finding an exhaust sound that appeals to you could be much more difficult now than say, 15 years ago. what one person says sounds great, you might find annoying after driving for 10 miles.
