Key-Fob Proggraming

Post by lilolneon » Sat Jul 08, 2006 7:31 pm

Ok, so, my new car only has 1 remote key fob thing... I need another for a spare. my question is, can I just buy another one and program it myself, or do I have to goto the dealership and have one made. As of right now, I only have 1 Fob and 1 Actuall key. Im going to get another key made later on.

I can save you the money on the key. but the dealer has to program it with the DRB III.....
And your car has to be there to do it

5018690AA - key - 33.00
4759008AF - fob - 27.23
Total 60.23
+tax 65.05 plus $5 shipping

The fob you should be able to program by yourself, as for the key..since you have only one you need to have the dealer program for you...

If you have NO fobs working the dealer has to do that too
If you have 2 sentry keys you can program a third
If you have 1 fob you can program a 2nd
If you have 1 sentry key and no fobs you have to get the dealer to program them for you...

As stated above, if you do not have at least one working fob, you will have to have the dealer program it. So, your gonna have to have the dealer program at least one of your new ones. :)

Yeah, one fob and 2 keys and you can do whatever you want. I believe there's a max of 8 fobs and 8 keys per car, but I could be wrong.

I only got one key and one fob with my car too. I got my additional transponder blank dick cheap from eBay, had it cut at the hardware store, and just showed up at the dealership and said "Ok, work your magic." Half hour later I had two working keys. I'm thinking about doing a third so if I lose one, I'll still have two so I can make another myself.
