I thought the transmission computer was part of the PCM on the Neons. BlackRose, verify that for me?

What type of problems are your running into?

well my problem was cuz of water, but if you shift to much sometimes it fucked up the transmission..i kno that much..or maybe you need a transmission flush..cuz our concorde did that, and it sucked backin up..take it to a garage or maybe to someone that will look @ it for no problem cuz my parents garage looked at it wit no problem and thats how i kno wat was wrong with the concorde, but with the neon i took my intake out to look @ it..

My question is do you have a 3speed or 4speed?
Early 02's could have had either or
Also early 4speeds had a seperate trani controller, its going to be about 8inches wide,6inches high and have one big connector attached to it....
The other things you have to look into are:
How's the fluid and filter?
Is the solenoid pack leaking?
There various options it could be, the best bet is to have someone with a GOOD scan tool to take a look at whats going on for you...

wouldn't it be cheaper to just get a tranny from a junkyard??

About 3 months ago, I was getting the stumbling in first gear and all the signs of "rebuild time". When we drained the fluid, it smelled really burnt, but there was actually little to no metal shavings around the magnet collector thing. Well, when the dealer finally went to rebuild my transmission, they found that nothing could be used from my transmsission, at all, not even the valve body. I ended up getting a Modern Performance rebuild kit and having a junkyard tranny rebuilt.
Hopefully your problem doesnt end up being as bad as mine, but just be ready for a potential pain in the ass.
