question
ok i have a 00 es and i hydrolocked the motor, i have a 97 block coming through the mail right now and i just took of my head and im pretty sure its warped so now i think i need a new head to. im wondering should i keep a 97-02 head on sence those heads were the same years. or can i put a 97-99 dohc head on it? how much trouble would this be to do? or would it e easier to put a 2.4 head on it? i would like to do a dohc or 2.4 head but im not sure which would be the best. any help?

I do not think you can do the 2.4 - if so, I have no clue if it has been done yet. Then again, I could be completely wrong.
As for the DOHC, there is some things you need to do to it, like wiring harness, sensor, etc... what are you looking for? Power, daily driver, what? Future? Turbo? NA, NAWZ..?
Just think about long term...

I would think using a 2.0 DOHC would be better for turbo app... or the 2.4. But if you do the 2.4, why not just swap an entire SRT engine into it?
Also, isn't it possible to use a 420a from the mitsu eclipse into our car??? Maybe the head? That would be sweet...
Those are some tough engines!

how much modification would be needed to swap in the engine from a eclipse? would it be a direct swap sence its a 420a, or would it just be easier to swap in the head? i would like to swap the whole engine if its possible but if just doing the head is easier than i would rather do that. i just bought a 97 block so im decideing which i should do. i could always sell the block i just bought.

Anything is possible with money.
On the 420a the engine is completely flipped (exhaust is on front, intake faces firewall) much like a honda. I presonally think it would be more unique than anything worth it in the end. But, with time and money, it can be done.
Look for a 2.0 DOHC head from a Neon, that would be the best for you future. I believe there is more stuff for turboing the 2.0 DOHC than ours so far, plus more people have done it. Check neons.org for more info on the DOHC 1st gen/turbo.
