converting sxt brakes to srt?

Post by yellowsxt23 » Fri Sep 01, 2006 2:27 pm

the rear are drum blah! the front are disc, would like to convert to 4 wheel disc, what would be the best route finding a wrecked srt, bear, stainless brakes, etc.

SRT rear is the same as 2nd gen rear and just a thicker rotor then 1st gen rear. We just did the swap on my buddies sxt. The SRT was the same as my ACR.

Yep, the rear SRT brakes are the same as the R/T, ACR or anything 2nd gen that had rear disc which had ABS. They're 95% identical, only difference is the thicker rotors.

so for the rear srt disc my stock master cylinder will work ie. its for my current stock front disc rear drum setup or do i need to convert everything including the master cylinder, i know on s-10's which i am way more familar with when doing this tupe of conversion you need a proportioning valve or the rears will lock up before the fronts. also what am i lookin at for rear pasrts to do the conversion, are the brackets alredy there to bolt the calipers on, or do i need the whole rear srt setup, thanks for any help!

Im really thinkin of doing the swap sometime too, the drums kinda erk me. Then again, they do their job very well. it would mainly be for aesthetic purposes, so ill prob wait till money starts growin on trees!

Sadly, it doesn't. The disc/caliper combo weighs more than a drum. I don't have the exact numbers, but from holding each in a different hand it's noticeable, plus I have seen numbers somewhere for what they actually weigh.
