SRT-4 Exhaust on a 01 SE
I own a 2001 Neon SE and I'm planning on putting the SRT-4 rear and I'm wanting to install the SRT-4 Performance Exhaust system from www.mopartsracing.com so it'll fit the rear cuttouts on the bumper. I was wondering how difficult this would be to install the muffler or should I just have a custom set done and ran to the cut-outs. Thanks.
Don't do it. Your taillights are different, and wont fit with the bumper. On top of that, the exhaust you speak of does not have a muffler at all, and will be too loud since your car does not have a turbocharger. If you wan't a great dual exhaust get the vibrant exhaust from http://modernperformance.com

Maybe the Thermal exhaust for SRTs that Modern sells will sound decent on a N/A car? Its got a muffler.

Itll fit, but itll sound like shit and be rediculously loud.
If you want cheap, get an R/T muffler and have the tips cut and welded to fit the SRT cutouts. Then the car would sound good and not be too loud.

Well first, I do not agree with this. There is a difference. Ive had both. The r/t is louder, even more so with supporting mods.atom wrote:Eh, I dont think she wants R/T. From what I understand its just as quiet as the SXT\SE\Whatever muffler.
Secondly. You know, you could add the glasspack to it. Sounds pretty decent that way.Mopar00Neon wrote:Itll fit, but itll sound like shit and be rediculously loud.
Last but not least, my marks were on the outside. . Not sure if that is any different on the younger years.atom wrote:Yes, or you could also keep your stock rear end and make the cutouts that are already marked on the inside of your bumper!

Yeah, I have an SRT exhaust on my 2000 and YES it is loud, but once I add an inline glasspack it will sound awesome.
So I think your going to just get a wide array of opinions here.....but personally if your going with the SRT rear bumper, then just do the srt exhaust. You can find one used (like I did) either here or on neons.org for probably no more than $60 SHIPPED, and then just get a $30 glasspack and have someone weld it in for you. Personally, for the price....I don't think you can beat it.

^^What he said - buy a used srt rear section and just add a glasspack inline to it and it will sounds grrreat.... plenty of people on here running just that.
RT exhaust is great sounding too - you could go that route, but you will end up spending more moolah - muffler is usually more on here and then you have shipping which is more because weight/size and then you need to do some custom work which a muffler shop may charge you like 20-30$ for.
Personally, a 3" tip would look nice and not be too ricey.
