ok this is the deal, i have a very slow 02 neon (auto) i was told if i get the R/T head and PCM i will gain and notiece HP diff. Is that true? i hear everything is str8 bolt on. my questions r

is that true?

could i get the PCM and just put it on my car without the head and notiece a diff?

do i have to reprogram the PCM to match my car?

does it have to match my VIN?

No, its not true.

The R/T head is a direct bolt on, as is the camshaft.

The PCM will not work, however. The R/T is a stick, your car is an auto.

The R/T computer (aka PCM, ECU, ECM) will not work with an automatic.

this is wut happened to me

2 months ago my car would not go pass 20MPH so i took it to the mechanic. he told me luckly it was my "TCM" tranni comp that messed up so i he got one and had to get it program by the dealer for like 330$ the car runs very very slow. it hesitates and has no bottom end wut so ever. my girl has the same car, year color u name it and she takes me by 2 cars. i only have a CAI and a muffler, shes stock. th mechanic also check to see if the exhaust was clogged but it was fine. my sprak plugs r new, i have new injectors. but nothin same thing. resently i was told the computer that the mechanic put was for a diff model or for a manual. friends of mine that r also into neons say my torque converter is lockin/not lockin up, one of those 2. dat is has to be with my computer. im tired of spendin money to get no were. m y tranni fluid smells normal not burnt. so im lost in wut to do next, any suggestion, anyone i can give my vin and part # from the computer and see if it matches, like ppl here, ill have to pay 120$ at the dealer, plz help

For starters....
The car not going past 20mph....What codes where there?
To me it sounds like your 4speed trani was defaulting into 2nd gear, wich 90% of the time is not the TCM (trani control module)

As for running a MTX pcm in a car with a 4speed ATX, you cant since the pcm and tcm communicate with each other and running a mtx pcm wont send the proper info to the tcm to control your 4speed properly...

And the R/T bolt ons are power increases....
The R/T head flows like a race ported Non R/T head...
The R/T cam is equal to a Crane 12 or a Comp 200 wich should be at the most 6hp bolt on. But you will need the R/T valve springs or aftermarket springs to help with the higher lift and valve float at higher rpms
The R/T header is also a bolt on increase (with the proper gasket)
The R/T intake is a direct bolt on that requires the secondary actuators to be wired up to an rpm switch
By the looks of your profile you are new here. Click on the search button and look for several topics about the r/t. Read up and do some research. If this was the "ORG" you would have been flamed out so bad for asking the questions you did..
WELCOME to 2GN :D
Please try to keep your posts in the apropriate topics and grab a beer and enjoy...
If you have any further questions please feel free to PM me anytime and I'll try to help you when I can.
I also PM'd you back about the pcm, but now I read this topic afterwards and without a MTX swap you cant really use the one im selling...
R/T's never had an ATX, your best bet would be to get an AF/X pcm from howell automotive. And be sure to send them a "GOOD" core for programming, you will be happy with the pcm bolt on from them

not true.....isnt the magnum cam more like the 14 and 400??? i know for a fact you can run the 200 on stock non r/t springs just fine.....you should get more than 6hp out of a cam

The 01 R/T cam is almost the same as the MP cam for the Non-Mag motors...
The Comp 12 is rated as the same as the R/T and I'm pretty sure the Comp 200 has the same HP rating also. The specs might vary differently but the HP output is the same. Thats why everyone recomends the Non-Mag owners to get the stock R/T - ACR came Vs the Crane 12 or the Comp 200. If you have the R/T motor thats a different story since buying the Crane 12 or the Comp 200 is like buying a stock cam, no performance difference at all exept maybe for power band....
