How Would I Go About...

I have a 2000 Neon, and was thinking about purchasing some guys old SRT Exhaust and Intake to slap on mine. I breifly looked it up, but apparently the SRT exhaust WILL NOT bolt in my 2000. So this brings me to a couple of questions:

1) What would need to be done to get the exhaust fitted?
2) If nothing outrageous, would it be worth doing performance-wise?
3) Same for the intake, what needs to be done to fit it, and would it be worth it?

Thanks ahead of time.

1) the srt rear section will bolt up to 2.25" piping, some 2000's had 2" pipe. get yourself 2.25" piping or get a reducer/expander pipe [2" -> 2.25"].

2) You would see a little performance increase because there is no baffeling/muffler (which introduces a restriction in the exhaust system) and the dual outlet gives a greater exit area whcih increases presure at the end, effectivly decreaing backpressure.

3) the intake is for a dohc head, you have a sohc head. it probly would see a little increase if you were to modify it to fit, but you would be better off with a magnum intake mani.

unless im missing something it should bolt up on 2000.....worked on my 01 perfect....but i know 00 is weird in alot of ways so i dunno.....as far as the intake i dont think it would work because the tb is in a different place on the srt...but i would double check that

alright so the intake is out of the question then. so would you suppose getting this used SRT exhaust would be just as effective as an aftermarket borla/magnaflow system specifically for my appliccation?

its going to be louder. performance gains would be negligable either way.

I'm lovin the Borla, but costs some $$$...so it is all in what you want to spend

Thanks, I'm probably going to end up getting this SRT system. Money IS a factor...

Not a direct bolt up to a 2000, because most if not all 2000's had 2" piping. The cat/down pipe is 2.25" though. IMO the best way to do it (and the way I did mine) was to cut kneck down off of the cat and add a slightly longer pipe. Since I modded my mid section it was pretty easy, but just as easy to do with a stock mid section:

I noticed a bit more pick up with it. Not mindblowing or anything, but enough for the but dyno to pick up on.

Personally... I wouldn't get it unless you plan on putting a glasspack on the midpipe to make it quieter. Just throwing it on and calling it a day will be loud and performance wise, the neons don't see a whole lot of gains from different exhaust systems, I'm talkin only 2-3whp.

also with the neons, every little bit counts. 2-3whp for a decent price is worth it in my book. im just trying to squeeze as much as i can out of my sohc before I turbo it (thats where the real money comes in).

thanks for that tip matt. definetly will consider that when installing.

Anyone got any audio tracks I can listen to, so I know what I'll be hearing ahead of time (so if I need a glasspack I can do it at the same time I install the rest)?
