Painting Valve Cover

hey my valve cover is rather chipped and beaten up i was wanting to paint it...

however, will i need too buy another valve cover gasket once i take mine off...the car has 140 000kms on it...

Nope, you won't have to as long as you don't damage it.

depends on the shape the gasket is in....if its the original gasket, I would suggest getting a new one to be on the safe side. The whole gasket kit for the VC is only like $25 from advance auto and it comes w/ new spark plug seals, vc gasket, and grommets.

+1. That's what I did. Granted, I bought the gasket kit for a 1gn instead. :shock: :lol:

if it didnt leak or damage it, your fine. as for painting you VC, use rubbing alcohol and clean it REALLY WELL.

And be very carefull when tighting the VC bolts back down... They are very shitty. When I traded the neon in she had 2 broken VC bolts... Ooops... Never leaked though!

You would probably want sometime of higher temp paint, and with any job you do, its all in the prep!
