Exhaust drone!

Post by bigbird » Tue Nov 07, 2006 10:57 pm

I just installed a dynomax super turbo 17739 Camaro style muffler that neonsxt0486 sold to me (thanks again). I like the sound from the outside, but it drones on the road. From 2500-3500 rpm it resonates into the cabin pretty bad. Is there anything that can help with this other than $100 worth of dynomat?

yeah, I had the tips removed, because I thought they extended too far and I also didn't like the chrome. I think that was a mistake as it is louder inside now. Hmmm...

Well I made my exhaust cuouts and went back to the shop. The guy made some new pipes from the muffler to the cutouts and welded the tips back on. Sounds a little better now as the tips pass the bumper as they were intended to do!

You can get used or cheap carpet padding instead of dynamat, works pretty well.
