Vibration....vibration, vibration
Vibration....vibration, vibration
I just finished changing my passenger side engine mount (the one in the frame) it was a nasty job...but pulled it off ...... i did everything by the book, and aligned the engine acording to spec, 119 mm distance on the upper torque strut as the FSM indicates....
i'm getting a little bit more vibration than before the repair inside the car.... what could be causing this?
i'm open for ideas....
thanks,

Did you change it for another OEM mount? or did you upgrade to an aftermarket performance "solid" mount?
Even if you replaced it with a new OEM mount....the rubber in the new one could just not be as "broken in" as the old one was....which would cause some increased vibration......
Also, have you checked your other 2 mounts to see if they are all good? you could also possibly have another blown mount that would cause some extra vibes....

All are stock.....
i checked every mount, the are in great shape no problem.....
i'm thinking engine alignment, will it make such a big difference if is 120 mm instead 119 or soemthing like that? i doubt it will have such an affect.......
maybe it is a matter of breaking in the brand new mount, we'll see

neons vibrate no matter what u do, so the question is: how bad of a vibration are we talking? where is the vibration at (steering column, pedals)?

i understand that neons have vibration, but this is a bit more than usual. it gets even worse once you turn the ac on.
things i've noticed, the car is louder over all. either that due to a mounting issue, or a did something to my exhaust while raising and lowering the engine... i'm not sure. from the outside, everything sounds and looks normal. i don't see anything touching the frame, but there is definatly something not right. there is suddle vibration all over the car, if you put your ear ot the fender (either one) there is noticble vibration, and you could hear the engine running.... upon inspection, i don't see anything wrong.....any ideas? how can you diagnose a bad catalic converter? and will raising or lowering the engine at steep angles cause any damage like that? i went by the book, and i did not do anything out of usuall.... this was one heck of a job, took me 6 hours to do, and boy it was not easy .......

ok.....firstly....WHICH mount exactly did you change?
Upper, Lower, or Transmission?
You previously mentioned that you swapped it out for a new OEM mount correct?
I'm trying to figure out which mount you would have changed that would have required "raising or lowering the engine at steep angles cause any damage like that? i went by the book, and i did not do anything out of usuall.... this was one heck of a job, took me 6 hours to do, and boy it was not easy ......."
I know that I have had a bit more experience with changing many sets of mounts......but I can swap out all 3 mounts in about an hour or less.

I swapped the one oposite to the tranny mount, the one that has the T-55 bolt go through it, it was torn. i got a brand new oem one from BRR..... this job included:
raising vehicle on jack stands, removing wheels
loosining up tranny mount through bolt
removing both uper and lower torque struts and pencil strut.
jacking engine slightly on passenger side to remove through bolt and support engine,
remove power steering belt, and remove pump(put it aside without draining fluid)
lower engine until engine mounting plate lower bolt is accessable from left wheel well,
raise engine to access the upper two bolts of engine mounting plate
remove engine mounting plate
mark location of mount in passenger side frame, loosen bolts holding mount in place.
trying to get mount into timing belt cover opening. then raise engine again to pull mount out .........
all these steps are detailed in the FSM,
and you have to reasemble everything again , not to mention tighten everything up, and align engine according to spec. honestly, finishing this in 6 hours was an achievement for me ..........

sounds about how mine did after installing my Prothane Race MM inserts. vibration when starting in first, lots of vibe in the interior, and lots of rattling (tho my car rattles for many reasons other than that
). Are u sure it was an OEM mount? either u have an aftermarket mount in there or you somehow screwed up the install. Cant figure out how u could tho...

FIXED IT......!!!!!!!
I was not aware that the upper torque strut had left and right directions ,it was on in oposite direction, it took me a while to figure this one out ...very minimal difference visually... HUGE difference in performance....
that car is a smooth as it ever was now...
thanks BRR for the parts!!!!!!
