windy on the highway

Post by latief » Wed Nov 29, 2006 11:25 am

I have unusually high wind noise in my car at high speeds 60+, it sounds like wind passing through a gap somewhere ... i don't have any leakage inside the car (at least i don't feel it), and i'm not sure what to look for...any suggestions? i have a bit of broken weather stripping in my driver door, but i could not feel any leak at that side, and i will fix that soon......
any one have experience with this issue?

thanks

Do you have power windows? If so, they are usually set to close to hard...i.e. they push up against the top seal too much....eventually splitting the seals all to heck. If your window seals are already cracked, you'll need to get new ones. And then every time you roll the windows up, back them off a smudge by tapping the window switch to roll them back down.

That's the only thing that comes to mind as an obvious cause. If that's not it, then "Hmmm..."

check the back windows. i think at one point mine lowered themselves a little and i got a similar noise. bugged the hell out of me. the i put the windows up and it was fine.

i know it sounds stupid, but if you rarely/never use the back windows check them.

I've always had this problem and for a year I couldn't figure out where it was coming from until one of my friends said they felt wind coming through the bottom of their door (front passenger door), I can put my hand over there while driving and feel it, but I can't figure out where the gap is.

Ya, my windows gradually over time roll down a tad on there own. The passenger side front window is where i get my noise from. But i just roll the window snug and its gone
