Went out to my car this morning to find i had been egged yet again! This is probably the 5th or 6th time in the last year, they hit about every other month. Luckily no serious damage yet. I'm gonna have to set up some covert security system so i can catch em action, then go put a gnarly scratch in my paint and make em pay for it! ok, maybe i wont go that far.....but damn this crap is hella annoying.

Anyone else here have this kind of problem?

also pick up a car cover from like pepboys or autozone and just trow it over your car everynight it will also protect it from the weather. now if they lift your car cover to throw crap at it then you got enemys not your average young punks.

Agreed with what was just said by above poster. Also you said it yourself get some sort of security. You can buy these lil mini camera's now for cheap and have it recording at night. Good luck with your situation man.

good idea krackstar, thats prolly a good investment. I'll go look around one of these days. After i cleaned all the egg off i was "Overjoyed" to find a nice lil spiderweb in the clear about the size of a nickel. OOOO SNAP they're gonna get dominated when i get em!!

And i'm sorta lookin around for some security. Some kind of cheap night vision cam, i have an excellent vantage point that would do very well.
Any one on here have some kind of security expertise or knowledge? like what kinda system i can set up for cheap?

I used to help install semi-professional DVR setups and the price has come down quite a bit and you can actually get a decent system for fairly cheap. You'll have to shop around a little bit, though... Try staying away from those $50 'night-vision cameras' and those other cameras for like $25 because they're more than likely junk. Go over to Google.com and search for 'DVR systems' and 'surveillance cameras' and just go through some stuff there.

Good luck, man! People sure can be assholes. If you have anymore questions, just let me know.

last year someone threw a couple eggs on my cavalier.

Only happened once, so it was just some random destruction.

just after srt was done it was egged and then a week later they threw bottles at it. I figure its due to their jealousy of our cars.

Yah, I'd get a cover first and make sure it has eyelets in it so you can run a cable under the car so they don't steal it or just take it off easily to continue to do damage. Might be worth checking into an Alarm as well with a paging remote like a Viper or Compustar. If they hit your car and it sets off the alarm the pager will go off and hopefully wake you up to which you can run out to get an idea who it is.

Surveillance you could always get a TV card that has RCA inputs to hook up a standard video camera which will get you a better picture compared to some of those webcam type surveillance cameras. Sams Club also sells a camera with night vision thats pretty small for fairly cheap that has a decent picture and built in infrared LEDs that make it able to see at night better. I have noe somewhere that I bought a few years ago and it worked pretty well. It connects via an RCA hookup so if you have a vid capture card with RCA inputs all you really need to find is an application that can record when it senses any sort of movement in the image. With how small Sams Club camera is too you could probably run the line outside to set the camera near the car so it has a good shot of catching a license plate.

Might be able to talk to SRT-4Store.com on here (NiteHawk) and he might be able to fab you up something to have a lot more Infared LEDs to light up the area a lot better.

i googled security cameras and found some pretty good deals. i'll try out the car cover i guess and see if it helps drive them away. I'm mostly worried that they will get tired of eggs and move up to something that could cause some real damage.

Anyone have any recommendations when it comes to covers? Common reasoning would suggest you get what you pay for, but i also dont wanna pay big bucks for a repackaged tarp. I'm gonna head over to Schucks and see what they got in the morning....maybe....god i'm lazy.

we used to get bricks thrown through the back of our 96 Neon...then they upgraded to a 19" TV. I would have been much happier with them throwing eggs. :?

yeah, the tv was far from working condition....insurance covered it every time it happened...so we always had a new dash and seats and glass and paint...

after the TV incident it all stopped, mainly cuz i found out who did it AND he wound up getting sued by my insurance company. With all that work done on the car because of the vandalism we easily could have bought another car with the money.

but that was a long time ago, we've since stopped parking on the street there and really have no issues anymore.
