i know alot of people are into the megasquirt, but has anybody tried the safc? or has anybody tried a reflash AFTER all their mods?
megasquirt looks good and all, but i would do more harm than good, since i know little about the programming. that, and i dont have that sort of time lol.
thanks for you help guys!

i have read many using the safc. personally i have not used it.
search around the tuning section. you can click search at the top of this page and then change the forum to the tuning forum. you should be able to find some good info.

what mods do you have?, SAFC is basically for people who need more fuel to support the mods they have.

i have the cai, exhaust, header, and i will soon have the indy intake manifold, mpx throttle body, and udp. the safc would be the last item. i am trying to decide if the safc or a reflash would be better.

in my unprofessional opinion i dont think that is enough to warrant an safc.
i could be very wrong, but from what i have seen those mods aren't that extensive.
a good idea is to also put you car info in your sig or in the garage so we can see what we are dealing with.

most people with the n/a route usually use the safc to lean their car out a bit to make some more power since neons like to run rich as hell.

i keep hearing neons run rich, but wouldnt that be fine, since i am adding alot of mods dealing with air more than fuel?
and yes, i have an 03, and i am looking into n/a power.

i 've been monitoring my a/f ratios on the stock pcm for most of this week. 14.7 stoich almost always at part throttle, 13 when wot. max power is said to be around 13 from what i've read and stoich is 14.7 with gasoline. i'll switch over to my afx/r pcm this week and see what the differences are, but if anyone wants to chime in please feel welcome. i don't think those numbers are pig rich like i was expecting. also an earlier post indicated an indy intake mani. i think that money would be better spent on an allmotormike sheet metal intake if you're not going f/i. indy's have a history of not producing the expected gains on n/a cars. you might want to do a little research before you plunk down 500.00 on that mod. mind you that's just my .02 worth.

i have heard similar things about the indy intake.
a buddy of mine had one on his n/a first gen and he wasnt too thrilled with it.

I dont think SAFC's can control spark like MS does, but i could be mistaken. A fuel only controller would be relatively useless unless you had some other piggyback to get the other systems tuned correctly. Fuel is only a part of the equation.

well, i saw a parts review on here, which was pretty good all around. i read a similar post by garyover on howell automotive, but i did always think he was just trying to sell me on everything they offered.
as for the fuel issue, i think i may just leave it alone, until i get a real job, and then i will be happy to get my dream project car, and use the neon for daily driving.
and lastly, no, i dont think the safc offers spark. i think it is only fuel curve. here is the link i saw
