Coolant leak....

Post by Silver2gn4me » Sun Feb 11, 2007 8:29 pm

I changed my oil last week and noticed that I have coolant leaking off the back of the motor down the oil filter. This is also the cause for me replacing 2 crankshaft postion sensors. Where could it be leaking from? Any and all help would be great! Thanks!

Could be any number of things from the heater lines but thats ont he other side form the oil filter, the head gasket, coolant bottle, a loose overflow line tot he coolant bottle... best advice is to break out the flashlight and start feeling for where it's wet.

Do you still have a powertrain warranty?
is there oil in your coolant resevoir?
There's a TSB out about a badly manufactured head that was to porrus and causing head gasket leaks. The TSB's cure is to replace the head with a new one.....
But it also could be a blown headgasket causing the antifreeze to leak out the back of the block too....
What color is the fluid?
If you have red puddles on the ground, is it antifreeze or PS fluid?
This also confuses some people and the misconception ends up costing $$$

^ what he said. i replaced mine first water pump at 55k on mine and so far ive done 3 at 111k. I also noticed oil leaking from under the timing belt. next to the oil filter.. I ended up having to replace the upper cam seal and lower crank seal.. do those to save money and avoid paying twice in labore..

No powertrain warranty and no oil in resevoir. Car has 82,xxx miles. I am pretty sure it is anitfreeze and not ps fluid. If I had a bad head gasket wouldnt I be leaking oil too? Because I am not seeing any oil leaks. It sounds like it might be the water pump. I am gonna take a good look under there tomorrow and see if I can tell where it is coming from. Thanks again!
