Would Like some suggestions.

Post by 01WhiteNe0n » Fri Mar 02, 2007 9:39 pm

Hi i'm new to forum and I just bought a 01 Stone White Es and I'm planning to make it into something as i visioned b4 i bought it. My first car was a 1g sohc but it was the fun first car 5spd, nvr really modded it besides muffler tint and intake and watnot. So I just want some suggestions on what to do.

First off I wanted to get my rims I wasnt really sure of which ones to choose but right now i'm thinking of white rims like the 17" konig 7 spoke or the 17" Exel TZ-7 Or would they just get dirty very easily ? Also taking suggestions on anything. and anywhere i can get them cheap.
I've already put on RX-300 style tails that are chrome.

Then I was looking for a muffler didnt want to put the full exhaust on it right now I plan on working from exterior to under the hood. what would be the best bet to go with, for a muffler ? i've seen some pretty good looking dual exhaust mufflers for around 250 ish.. I need some help on that part, im not really sure which would be best sounding and looking.

I plan on getting 20% tint once it gets nicer out and also debadgeing it, Would debadgeing the car leave marks where it was not exactly sure, shouldnt be to bad if its only a 01 but if you know from experience please tell me :)

After all of that is done I might get a ground effect on it but im not sure if its to good of an idea considering I live in Pa. But where is best place to get a not so low ground effect kit ? and a nice price.

All help is appreciated...

Debadging will put really light scratches in it, but more importantly, the paint under it isn't sun damaged. I wouldn't do it unless it was a very new car.
17" wheels are typically really heavy. They look nice, but be aware that your car will be slower.
I have a feeling your car is gonna end up like 99% of the civics out there. Loaded with pretty crap and slower than stock. But if that's your thing that's cool. Just know that appearance is subjective and you won't get any decent answers, but if you want it to go fast, there are right and wrong ways to do it, which we can help in agreement with.

I think a white car looks hot with black rims w/ a chrome lip - noice. But, personally, all that moolah you are going to dish out for the looks, I would dump into the engine, and I wouldnt get 17's I woudl go no bigger than 16, but preferably 15's. Why? Less rotational mass.
Also, if you want a nice body kit/ground effects get the mopar lip kit - search here will turn it up, not super low, but looks GRRRREAT!! A few people here run it, and I most will agree, its nice.
And for the exhaust, I dunno, you could just go with the stock 01-04 RT muffler, find a used one for less than a 100... it looks like the thermal r&d from modern. Thats what I would do.

Although if done right, white wheels on a white car can look good (like whiteout's). But then again, you are asking questions in which you will get subject answers too. ;)

Yeah, I wanna go with the white wheels but i not so sure about them because of the stock white color.. Witeouts is nice but I believe he repainted his car a brighter white. But then again it cant look that bad :P The exhaust i was talking about is the one witeout has its like 250ish and is pretty nice, I wonder what the performance of it is though =/
Once it gets a lil warmer out i'm gonna try debadgeing it carefully then clean it up and wax it or something to get rid of the marks, i'm not sure how that will go lol
I Think im gonna wait for the Lip kit and get exhaust and stuff done first..
Also Have any pics of the white neon with blk rims that you thought looked nice.

Thanks for helping.

White wheels are going to be hard to keep clean...anything white is. but i think if its done right (like witeouts) that it looks very nice.

I belive i have the same exhaust witeout has....vibrant performance dual tip muffler. I got it from modern performance, but alot of people dont like how it looks on a stock neon w/ out a rear lip or body kit. I have a full body kit, so it fits perfect w/ mine. I always liked it though. For a good, economical exhaust...id get an rt muffler. I hear that its not that loud, but its not silent either.

Debadging it should be fine on a white car. just go slow and take your time. Try to do it on a hot day when the glue is hot, or heat it w/ a hair dryer or something to loosen the glue. Fishing string behind it will help pull it off. after you are done, just wash and wax the spots where the badges were and if there is any fading (depending on how bad the fading is, if there is any since your car is white) it will eventually fade in and match the rest of the car. I took them off of both of my neons and on both (one was light almond pearl and my current neon's stock color is steel blue pearl) there was minimal fading, and it evened out graduallly.

there is paralyzer's car. his is white w/ black wheels w/ a polished lip. Gives you a better idea of how it looks. I personally really like his car. its coming together great.
