My Exhaust ...

We'll Im gonna buy a new muffler or exhaust system for my birthday but i'm not 100% sure about what to look for, I'm looking for advice on what I should buy.
First question: What is the difference in the sound and performance from say a Magnaflow dual output muffler to a catback exhaust ? Also is there a certain size or type that is better for the 2g ?

Basicly what im asking is tell me what I need to know about mufflers / exhaust.
All help is appreciated as to i'm probly oordering today.

if your just looking for sound and maybe a slight increase in performance just cut the stock muffler off and weld on the rear section from a R/T

just had my r/t exhaust put on...

i freaking love it

but i grew out of super loud exhausts sooo

it might be too quite for other people

But would a magnaflow muffler do a better job ?

any exhaust system that replaces the pipes and muffler from the cat on back (hence the term cat-back exhaust) will perform better than stock, because of less restriction from the muffler and the better flowing pipes.

that being said, i went a differant route and created a custom system out of a hooker max-flow muffler, and hid a dump pipe under my rear bumper. flows great, not too loud, and since the muffler is flat black and there is no tip to be seen, the cops leave me alone lol.

I just got a 3inch turbo back put on my car with test pipe and a Vibrant Flat Black series muffler. Sounds amazing, similair to a STI with stock exhaust and test pipe. If I could only find my camera cord, I'd upload pics.

How's the resonance in the cabin with that setup, particularily in the 3k++ and heavy load department?

Not bad at all. Its VERY QUITE when its warmed up and at idle. Its not bad underload at all either. Funny story too. I was on the highway and passed a STI. The STI followed me to my exit, lined up next to me and asked if I had an EJ20 under the hood. I laughed and told him new exhaust.

Well I'm goin for my rims on thursday and when i'm there i might have them build me a custom catback. Dunno how that will sound though, cant be to bad.
