Those of you who moved your battery to your trunk, how did you go about doing it? Like did you just cut the terminals off and somehow splice the wires in and run them all the way back? Did you use an adaptor to the terminals and run the wires? How did you do your grounds? one all the way back, or did you ground it out in the trunk? sorry for all the questions, i just wanna make sure I do it right the first time and exactly correct.

I gotta move it to the trunk to make room for my intake for my turbo and to make some more room under there. thanks.

I haven't done it so I can't really give any advice other than if you buy a battery relocation kit that should help you. I will say though that if you plan to take your car to the track be sure to have a kill switch located on the outside of the car so the emergency crew is able to disconnect your battery easily if something were to happen.

Also make sure the battery is a sealed battery and/or you have a vent. I stock battery needs a vent outside because of fumes.

i'll probably use an optima so i shouldnt need to, but if not i'll keep that in mind.

also diablo, i'll keep that kill switch in mind when doing it. Like I said, i wanna do it right the first time.

also I have been told that the battery should go on the passenger side instead of the driver side for balancing out the weight but I would get your car on scales and see where it will do the most good in your trunk for if you want to do autoX kind of events.

Im thinkin of moving mine to the back. If its a lot of trouble im not gonna do it anytime soon, but it seems like a real simple deal. Has anyone on here done it yet? I remember seeing some one who has.. forgot who it was!

My Daytona will have an Optima in the trunk. I would imagine you probably don't need much to do it.

I relocated my battery to the trunk for the same purpose you are going to...more room. I ended up buying a kit from a company called 9 second racing. I think I bought it for 80 bucks or so. Included mounting brackets, 13ft of 2 gauge positive line, 3 ft of 2 gauge or negative wire, box, ect. I'll try to snap some photos this weekend for ya.

I also moved my batt to the trunk to make room for my turbo. It's really pretty simple. The most important thing is to get a good cable to run from the trunk to the engine bay. You only need to run one cable for the positive. Negative can be grounded through the body.

I used the battery tray from the engine bay, and just bolted it down to the trunk floor. There are already huge vents in the trunk so I didn't worry about getting a cealed battery or adding any additional venting. Even if the battery does vent a little, it's mostly just good ol' H2O coming out anyway (obviously you still want to used a good battery that's not visibly leaking).

Just make sure your body grounds are good (i.e. don't try to ground through paint), and get a good battery cable. I used 00 gauge cable.

And.... that's it.

It isn't too bad...just make sure you get large gauge wire and have a good ground. If you don't want to hassle with gathering all the components you can buy a kit that comes with everything that you will need, minus the battery. Also, I did go with an Optima because it is sealed. I didn't want to risk the trunk not getting enough ventilation.

so what you guys ran back one positive, then grounded out the stock cables to the body in the engine bay, and then just grounded out the negative terminal in the trunk?

Yup pretty much. I have a peice of 2 gauge wire running inside the car to a divider block mounted in the engine bay. Then for the negative side, I went under the trunk lining through a rubber grommet and bolted it to a bare peice of metal.

oh ok cool guys, i thought I was going to have to run 2 wires back or something. It is easier then I thought. How are you guys connecting your long cable to run back, to the stock ones? I know 60 trim mentioned a divider block. could I just cut the stock terminal off and somehow splice in the new cable? if so what is the correct way to connect two battery cables? thanks!

Well I did it guys! couldn't have gone any smoother, and gave me just the extra room i needed! thanks for the help.
