So I filled up the '01 on the way to work yesterday (from half a tank) and decided to put in the Shell V-Power to clean out the crap. I then went straight to work, and then straight home, which is about 160 kms total (100miles), this trip usually takes about a quarter of a tank. Yesterday it took HALF!!!! I don't smell any gas around the car, and I'm not seeing any leaks, and I know it wasn't siphoned because I watched the gauge drop a quarter tank on the way home. So could it be the gas? The last time this happened was with my '86 Cherokee and that was because it blew all 6 fuel injectors.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Paulie

I wouldn't base any milage concerns off of one tank of fuel. If it starts to consistantly get bad fuel economy, then I would be concerned. It has a lot to do with where you fill up. When I went to Wisconsin last summer I was getting about 40 IMP MPG the entire trip. I had one fill up in Indianna that was absolute crap, only got 32 IMP MPG off that tank which is horrible for summer driving, and compared to the rest of the trip. It was just a shitty fill up. Also, the fuel gauge isn't the greatest thing to gauge milage by either.
I have no problems running shell at all up here, but I don't run V-power, just the regular 87.

I also only run Shell (87 Grade)
On the weekend I drove from my place to Waterloo which is approx. 160 kms and consumed (according to the gas gauge, which is not very accurate) barely an 1/8th of a tank. I then drove back to Woodbridge and still had 3/4 of a tank.
To be 100% accurate, you should fill the tank right up, than drive your trip, than fill back up again. Divide your litres consumed by your kilometres driven, and thats your true economy.
