Rear Ended....

Grrr! The Neon was rear ended by a drunk driver on Saturday... :cussing: He was arrested, and everyone is okay. My question is... The bumper cover is not cracked only paint damage. Does that mean that the real bumper is probably okay?

I know I need to bring it to a shop and etc... Just wondering on how well these hold up to minor collisions.

Thanks,

John

wow man that sucks to hear.... at least everyone is okay and the dipshit got arrested.

The best thing for you to do IMHO is take it to a trusted body shop (if you don't have one see who the local Stealership recommends), and have them look it over. That shouldn't cost anything (basically getting an estimate)

Glad to hear everyone is OK. Maybe you'll get lucky and will be able to get a SRT4 rear bumper out of the deal

I have a body guy and he will take care of me, just trying to fill my curiosity until I can get the car over there...

Because it is not cracked I doubt it will be replaced.

Thanks,

John

it would be a good idea to go to a shop but the problem is, like what happened to my car, they inspect visable damage and dont concern themselves with hidden damage until they get it apart.

i dont think it would be too hard to take the bumper off to take a look, i know people do it all the time. maybe take it off and then see what it looks like.

if you want a new bumper cover (srt  ) then maybe you'll get lucky and some cracks will appear on it before you go get the estimate **cough-cough**

d00d, cops can get the insurance info - they should have had you fill out a police report, and they got all that info you can send it to your insurance provider.... just please do not screw the insurance co, or lie, why? because the costs end up rolling back down on those who make no insurance claims.... sorry for the "lecture".

He refused to give it to the cops.... I have a police report and his court date. I am not filing with my company as I carry a 1K deductible and there is nowhere near that kind of damage.

go to the police department headquarters... they have a much detailed report that gets filed and you can get a copy of it.
