throttle body?!

well just got word from the body shop about my car well seems they found a crack in the trottle body there saying ether it's from the accident and there saying it could be due to having my aem cold air intake.have any one have or had problems with there intake cracking the trottle body?

i could see the accident causing it because you have the cai, but not the cai on its own.

It would've been the same if you had the stock airbox setup, the intake tube is basically in the same area as the CAI. Either one would've led to the same result if that's the case.

good excuse to get the 60mm tb


y is it that garages always blame problems on aftermarket parts when its usually an underlying cause?

i wrecked my car a long time ago with my aem and the throttlebody was fine....the intake took a few dents though. Thats stupid they would blame the intake....

Im sure they were just trying to explain what MIGHT have happened. I agree about the 60mm tb though, nows a good time to spring for one!

depending on where the accident was on the car, i think it could be possible for the intake to crack it.

i had a shop try and tell me that my cold air intake was making my car bog out and back fire. i just looked at him like he was stupid till he stopped talking.

Yeh like the time my friend took his car into the dealer and they told him that his ignition wasn't running right because of his newly tinted windows :tardbang: :slap:

well the shop says its possiblely from the accident trying to tell the insurance adjuster its from the accident is a diffrent story

Do you have coverage / allowance on aftermarket parts? My insurance allows $1500. I don't see how they can discriminate what part caused the damage if it was an accident that was the reason for ANY damage to begin with. If you got rear ended and your aftermarket steering wheel fell off then maybe they have a case but otherwise...
