i have an 03 sxt by the way. so last night , i turn on the oddball neon and my front headlights are dead, and so are the fog lights. my brights work though, so i was able to get home.
my brother claimed that i blew out all the bulbs, but both headlights AND both fogs at the same moment?? doubt it.
i thought it was a fuse, but they all are intact. none blown. i checked the fuses under the hood too, and nothing there.
i am going to replace all the fuses anyway, but does anybody know what could be wrong? no wires look like they have goon bad, and considering the brights still work, i doubt it is that.
thanks for the help!

Maybe, multifunction switch. Check in the streering column first to see if you fried anything.

+1
They really suck. If you search around on here, there are quite a few people that have had problems with them. Anything from the switch internally failing to actually having the connector melt on them!

probably the switch. although mine did that about 2 weeks ago and it hasn't happened since, it could be just a fluke..

but i replaced wire connector to switch, not switch part. Gl

thanks everybody. i opened up the steering column, made sure all the wire harnesses were connected right, and it suddenly worked again.

It all started when I was on my way home from work and I smelled an electrical style burning. All the lights when off and the only time they worked is when I had the bright switch held down. The brights wouldn't stay on by themselves. The problem fixed itself one morning and then it came and went for a week then the lights were just dead for good.
I ordered a new steering column assembly from
www.car-part.com for $50 shipped. I took the switch off the new/used steering column, put it on my car and it works fine now and has for about 2 months.
Upon installation of the new switch I found that the wiring harnesses got fried somehow and melted a little bit. I was worried that I would have to replace the wiring harness on my car, but it seemed like the only thing damaged beyond repair was the wiring harness of the switch that I replaced.
If your problem comes back this is what you need to do.
Good luck!

UPDATE:
the problem fixed itself, and 2 months later it was all good. i drove a 2500 mile roadtrip (pics coming soon!), and it lasted the rough trip.
today, they problem returned, and after messing with the harness, no improvement. no lights or fogs. only brights, and i have to continiously hold back the lever to keep them going.
my dad thinks it the black electrical module for all the functions off the steering column. i think it is the harness, but there is no burns, frayed wires, or any other signs the harness is bad.
ANY SUGGESTIONS? i am reluctant to bring it in to the mechanic, cause electrical problems are killer in terms or hourly labor, especially if i could fix this myself.
