Hey people!
I swapped in an LX cluster into my dad's LE and he is getting some problems now he say's:
got my instrument panel from and find out why... when the weather gets warn the radio won't work.... the right signal light indicator on the dash won't work ....the seat belt light remains on ....the odometer flashes CRUISE ,DOOR, & THE MILEAGE READING.... In the morning, on the way to work, when the temperature is cooler everything works just fine. The radio still has power to it as it is keeping time and all the radio presets remain. The only thing that works on the radio, when I can not hear music, is the lights for the equalizer, they flash on and off. Could this have something to do with the problem that he had? Short of ripping this thing out, and replacing it with the original , I have no idea what to do to remedy this problem. I don't really want to take it to the dealer to find out what a new dash is going to cost... and I like the idea of having the tach etc..
Does anyone know how to fix this AND does anyone have an extra LX cluster F/S?
Thanks
Jordan

did he have the issues before the swap?
how hot is warm for you?
eletronic compents don't do well with heat the more heat the more likely the failure. But I find it hard to belive because of the spec such things are design too. But you can't rule out it be faulty.
You may want to double check the connector make sure its plugged in tightly.
Check the connector for bent or damaged pins, cheack the wires for broken casing as you may be gettin a short. Or something on the cluster may have to much of a draw causing it to heat soak you'd have to pull the cluster when the crazy stuff happens and touch the back of the board see if any burns you. Not be warm but be to the point of burning.
But as far as I know the cluster and radio are indpendent. perpahs a common ground is loose.

He didnt have the issue before the swap! and by warm he means the weather out - or - when the car reaches temperature. He only drives it for about 10-15 min a trip (to and from work) so in the winter the car barely got to operating temp.
I had a friend sodler the chime out of the cluster as there was a fault in it - could the cluster just have gotten worse?

My guess is then it is the cluster and if you've already had to bypass something then more then likely there is bigger issue with the cluster.
I don't know how different the clusters are for US and Canada but I saw 3 white faced clusters on Ebay the other day and also on black cluster.

this was my stock cluster for my 2002 le... i really have a feeling its not connecting to all of the pins properly.. since my srt-4 cluster's pins fit much tighter then the stock cluster..
i didnt have any problems with my cd player not working, the blinkers, or anything like that.. just when the car got up to full operating temperature, the seatbelt light would come on intermittently.. even if i was wearing my belt.. and the chime would ding.. so i unsoldiered the chime so i wouldnt have to hear it.. but it still does its little flicker show in the odometer..and blinks the seatbelt light
