Front doors

Alright everyone... I have a question for all of you. You have seen that my car is getting redone with shaved doors , new paint and vertical doors up front. Well the body work and paint was complete, but I was not satisfied with the finished product. I sent the car back to them to fix.

While it was there they called me on Saturday with a question.... here it is:

They noticed on the bottom edge of the passenger door a crack in the metal, where the door skin matched to the door shell. When they looked at it closer they noticed that the skin was held to the shell with 3M tape

I couldn't believe it, and Dodge is denying that this is done by them. I have been the only owner of the car and there has been no body damage to the car. Has anyone else noticed when they got their body work done that there was a crack along the edge of the door??

I'm waiting on pictures from the body shop, I would got there myself but it 3 hours one way. right now the outer skin of the door is seperating from the shell as we speak. They are going to weld the skin back on and try to fix this issue with out having to remove the entire skin and replace it with a brand new one from Dodge, and redo the entire doors again.

If anyone has have this happen to them please let me know so I have some ammo to go against Dodge to get this handled.

if you're talking about the door panel, as in where your window controls/locks and what not are, then it was held in by clips...if you're talking about the door itself, dodge never used double sided tape to hold the doors together.....if i remember correctly, the bottom lip of the door comes around into the inside of the door and gets fastened there...

either way, if you're having a problem with that... i would suggest not slamming your doors anymore.

yea on my car, there is no 3m tape or anything that hold the two pieces together, and I havent noticed any crack or anything either

if they did the process correct in the first place you think they would have noticed it then before they did all the work.

I don't have all the details of this place but If their work sucked I would be so trusting of them with this issue. Could they have done this damage and tried to cover it up?

how many times has it been in a shop? i'm thinking that somewhere a long the line something happened at a shop and they tried to cover it up

its not the inside... its on the outside skin of the door to the bottom edge that is even with the side skirt of the car. No damage from the body shop since if they have dropped it, it would have been creased in other areas on the door.... once I can get better pictures I'll post them up
