I have replaced my alternator and power steering belts twice and it won't stop squeaking ! I see some glazing on my pulleys but I can't get it to stop squeaking. I even bought expensive belts that were not suppose to squeak and it didn't help. It does not squeak while it is idling. Just when you are on the gas. Please help me shut this thing up !!!!

doesn't feel like it. The only thing I see out of the ordinary is my belt hangs off the tensioner about 1/8 of an inch. This makes a line in my belt but I don't know what to do about it. Could that cause it ? I will tighten up the alternator belt a little to see if that helps also.

On my first gen it was other way around squeel on idle and just lil squeel on gas...
replaced my alternator because when i sprayed wd40 on it, the squeel would stop for good.. It ended up being my crankshaft pulley.

What was wrong with the crank pulley? Was it out of line or just glazed real bad ?

I will take a look at it. Thanks for the info. How much does that pulley cost ? How hard is it to change ?

depending on the cost of one, it might be a good time to get an underdrive pulley.
$118 shipped from modern performance.
or you can find them used sometimes.

sweet idea. A good excuse to do that. As soon as I get home from work I will get under the car and see if I notice anything wrong with the pulley.

I used belt dressing to stop mine but would come back. When I degrease the engine last time it helped a lot and now it barely squeaks at all.

I have a stock one from an 02 acr, but I dunno if it would help - personally, for 118 I would invest in the new, lightweight udp

i have had a modern udp since 02 ... still in the box ... with belts .. one of these days i need to put it on ...
till then, to cut out on the squeeling .. i just turn the radio up more.

I will clean my engine also. I recently fixed a bad oil leak that left my engine covered in oil. Maybe when I clean the engine, it will help. I'm still getting the UDP though. I sound like a missle coming when I pass cars. They just give me funny looks.

Finally decided it was the tensioner pulley. When I would take some tension off the tensioner the squeak would stop. Bad pulley !! Dodge makes you buy the whole aluminum bracket so I matched up a pulley from Advance Auto parts. It looked like it was going to be a hell of job. Turns out it wasn't too bad at all. Just take the motor mounts loose on the top and bottom and raise the engine to get some of the bolts out, then lower the engine to get the rest. Looks alot worse than it is. With new pulley on my tensioner, squeak is gone and everything is quiet !
