Power windows... but cranks in the rear!?

Geez that just sounds wrong, don't it? ;)

Seriously tho, why does my SE have crank windows in the back, and power in the front? Do all 2G (and 1G four doors for that matter) Neons have crank rear windows ONLY? :tardbang:

I don't know about you but If I'm driving the only window I care about is mine! If it were up to me the rear windows wouldn't roll down at all.

I don't sit in the back and noone else does. My Back seat is for my Bag of paper work and it doesnt like the Windows down.

the 1st gen ones are like that as well IIRC ... meh ... if i remember there were a few reasons for it .. one it was a little cheaper to make ... and two the rear window doesnt roll down a whole lot to begin with .. and three ... the odds of someone actually riding in the back of the car...

Why put a motor back there when it only takes like 2 cranks to roll it down. Plus it saves money...

I'm not back there and I have power on the windows that count :)

yeah no neon has ever been factory installed with rear power windows. main reason i am sure is to cut down on manuf. costs. I know you can get aftermarket rear power window kits for neons.

if you notice there is a child lock switch on the door....most likely reason its crank and they dont roll down all the way is for child safety...who wants a kid messin with the power windows all day ?

Yeah, but most of the cars that I've seen with power windows have a safety switch on the driver's door so only the driver can open them. You can't lock a kid from messing with crank windows. As far as the windows not going down all the way... look at the shape of the door.

Meh, the car is so small that I just reach back. If I wanted to convert them to power, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard. I just don't see the reason to.

theres a company that sells a kit for the neon. i believe its JLM. cost about $200 or $250. pretty nice looking kit.

That is exactly what I was thinking, too... grrr...

Oh well. Nobody (non-Neon owners) needs to know I dont do it because I CAN'T ;)

if you a just putzing around town thats more fuel efficient, but once you get above about 40mph or so its more fuel efficient to leave the windows up and run the a/c

it sucks that they arnt power but to me its a waste of money cause like stated before the window only takes a few twist and its down. not to mention the windo only goes down half way..

When I asked the dealer he said it was a euro thing. At the time I was a neon Noob and believed it.

And the other side???

It doesn't bother me too much that they aren't power, I justt wish I could use a window lock for people who don't listen to me when I don't want the window down. :banghead:

the pass side is the easy one to get down, the dr side one takes some minor contorsionism to get, but its still pretty easy, imo.

Well, when you're 5'10" it's a little difficult.

If i had it my way, those windows wouldn't roll down period. Hell, I wouldn't even have those back two doors... or back seats... screw passangers!
