Ok, heres what I've come up with. I've saved up a sum of money, and I'm not sure what'd be more worth the $$$. I've been playing with the idea of an SRT-4 swap, but it seems impossible to find a car. And honeslty, if I'm going to save up $5,000, I'd almost rather put it down on another car. Be it SRT-4 or import. I also know my car is 4 colors currently, Red, black, silver, blue. I have an old post about a rusted/dinged up fender, and 2 ghetto aftermarket bumpers. I've sense replaced those. I really don't want to paint it, its ugly, I've accepted that. Or the obvious 3rd option, just work with what I have. But, I've been told High miles + Turbo, ect. is a time bomb.
And also, I read these forums almost daily, ask the admins, my log in time is probably astronomical. From what I can tell, I'd max out of money before I could ever reach the potential of an SRT-4 Block. But I'd probably spend just the same trying to get 300 hp out of a SOHC 2.0 engine.
Maybe I'm missing something!
Opinions appreciated!

You can buy a crap load of CD's with 5 grand man
I say - hell, I dunno, when I was 17 I never had money because I always spent it on things like my girlfriend. I regret that I never saved it, but hey I was dumb and my parents paid for most everything, including my car. By the time I was a senior (I assume you are a junior??) I had a new car because my brother was turning 16, so I ended up giving him my 81 Accord LX (was an awesome car at the time!) and got my dads 87 Nissan p/u - I spent all my money that summer on things like bucket seats, center console, rims, lowered it, tauno cover, body kit, lights, stereo, EVERYTHIng so it looked HAWT. By the time I went to college, I was broke again!
I voted for SRT4 swap, but then I noticed you were younger, I assumed (I dunno why!) that you were older. Why would that weigh into my decision? Because I think that there are more important things heading your way on your way out of HS than car stuff, I know - been there and done it. Sucked. I went to college broke, and was basically a mooch on my parents who ended up making me come home each weekend to work and pay them back

THAT sucks.
Anyway, I change my vote to save it, and think more about YOUR future, not your cars.

Mine was red, black, orangy-primer, and silver. I called it the "Neopolitan", and it drove me nuts!
A little body work and a solid coat of VIPER RED w/ two clearcoats, and WOW. Throw in some projectors and a CF hood, and I'm happier than I've been with a car in a long time (looks-wise).
But o-so-far from done!
So I say PAINT THAT PUPPY! Eyesores sux0r.

Thanks fellahs, I appreciate the responses!
Saving it makes sense, and its not the opinion I wanted.

But its probably the one that makes the most sense. I'll probably still paint it, for piece of mind however.

's paint it, just drive it, and save the rest.. if i could go back to your age and make diff decisions on my spending habits when i came into sums of money, i would be out of debt and 10 steps ahead of my game..
