Post by BillKaulitz » Fri Jun 01, 2007 4:19 pm

does Dodge Neon 2000+ has the thing that when the timing belt torns the car stops immediately or the engine brakes? :P
I had a dream. I was dead. But it was alright.

Yes, it (the 2.0L) is an "interference" engine. If the timing belt brakes the valves will have an orgy with the pistons.

Like 03blackrt said, our engines will break since it is an interference engine, meaning the pistons are gonna have a major debacle with the valves, in other words, they're not gonna be happy campers when the timing belt goes.

Werd to all of this. I just finished my car after my timing belt broke. I had to rebuild the whole head with new valves and guides. That was the most expensive since I did all the work myself. Its not a fun project knowing that your car is down.

I wanna say 70k, but its not the motor that came with the car. My previous motor died because of oil pump failure. The motor I have in there now had 20k on it when I got it. I've put another 50k on it. I think they took my old timing belt and put in on the new motor. About 135 on the belt or so. Also remember that I'm boosted as well.

Yea I had my timing belt take a dump on my last summer.... lets just say the valves and the head didnt like it very much, i.e. my belt somehow wrapped itself completely around my camshaft... I'll try to find pics...
