Ive read at different places on the neeon forums that UDP's are a waste of money for an 02. I would like someone to clear this up for me. Is at all speeds that it sets of the cel or just at high speed. Thanks for any input!!!

Fixed.

I heard its a fun mod that makes the car a bit peppier. Don't know about the CEL's though.

i would say at high vehicle speeds, but at high engine speeds.

normally the problem occurs on 2002 r/t's but i have heard about it on 2002 non r/t's.

personally i wouldn't do it on an 02.

I love mine and would never run it without since it was such an easy but good mod. My buddy on the other hand hates his. He has a fully loaded RT and he always bitches about his, so IDK

If you aren't too concerned about your CEL coming on whenever you go above 5K then go for it. If you don't want your CEL to come on then don't do it. It's not that big of an issue but if something else major happens to the engine and you don't pay attention to the ding when another code pops up the CEL thats on from the UDP could mask another more serious problem. Other than that... it's not a bad mod, I expected more from it lol

You know, when I did my dyno run, the first run had the misfire code stored in the computer and I ran it and the only difference was a 1/2 hp and trq - so it does nothing, as far as power is concerned to run it with the famed 02 misfire code for udp's - I say get it, I love mine, next to the comp 400 cam and 60mm tb, this is another of my "must do mods" for the neon. :D

There is a specific Chrysler harmonic balancer puller that you should use. Other people have managed to get it off without it, but I wouldn't recommend it. There was someone that literally tore the inside of the pulley right out by trying to grab the outside of it.

Jason, do you get a CEL with the black car??

I've got a UDP on my 2002 and its fine.. i didn't really notice a massive difference in performance.. fuel mileage is better.. and the car doesn't seem to labor as much on hills and whatnot.. i dunno I've got an Atx so its kinda hard to say how big the gains would be anyways... install was easy too.. CEL comes on under hard driving at 5500 rpm, flashes the CEL..but goes right away if you get off the pedal a bit.. nothing to be worried about. shouldn't be going that fast in an Atx any-who.

Yep, if I just touch 5K for a short time it'll just blink and go away, if I take it all the way to redline it'll stay on.

rented the 3-jaw 3 ton puller from canadian tire, good ol' loan a tool program.. used it for two days.. and then took it back and got my deposit back... check your local part stores you should be able to find one somewhere.. worst comes to worst buy one and return it when finished... make sure its at least a 3 ton however.. or it WILL break. Be sure to let us know when you plan on putting one on.. i have a good guide that i followed.. makes removal of the old pulley much easier..
