I just bought a 2000 neon Es that is tachless and i am not the best at installing things. If anyone has a instruction list or diagram on how to install an aftermarket tach like autometer into it I would be very greatful..

This section, unfortunately is not for ASKING HOW TOO do something, yet for posting HOW you DID something
I believe most of the aftermarket tach's come with tach adapters, usually you only have to hook up one wire to the middle wire on the coil pack... I think.

if you get an srt, r/t, or some other neon cluster with a tach that would be one way to do it. all 00-05 neon gauge clusters are directly interchangeable between all years reguardless of the car coming with a tachless cluster or not. no having to rewire or add anything for that way to work. if you wanted to go the aftermarket route you would need to get the msd tach driver. then an aftermarket tach, and just wire it all in. our cars need the tach driver because the signal coming from the coil isnt really a good one, and would cause most aftermarket tachs to jump around and go all crazy. the tach driver just gives it a cleaner signal to read off of. there are a few aftermarket tachs out there that dont need to tach driver to work with our cars, but i cant remember what ones.

way to be a dick to someone new to the site. this isn't the how-to section, it's the general discussion section. this would be a perfect place to ask how to do something....

That's all I did. I put in a cluster with a tach and it works. My old cluster real like 100,000+ and this one reads like 16,000.

It was so easy to do if you need help, I can tell you how 2 do the swap.
:)

Way to be a dick to a very helpful and distinguished member of our forum. If you would *LOOK* first, you would have seen that the topic was moved from the "How-To" section to the "General Discussion" section by BRR. It shows the movement after the 2nd post I believe.
That being said, he had a smiley indicating it was in good nature, and wasn't an attack against the guy, just a helpful suggestion.
