the other post about starting problems

http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=22850

^ that post to be exact

i'm having the same problem.. only i have to think that this is now happening when its hot.. and sometimes when its cold
well today i went to start it, mind you it was very humid and hot.
wouldn't start.

i pulled out all my coil wires and plugged them back in. turns over, has no spark...no start.

then i pulled the starter relay and switched it with the fuel pump relay and it started... really wierd!!
any suggestions

comments.. anything?

I think your fuel pump maybe on its way out. My 1st gen did that same thing. 2 weeks later bad fuel pump

You seem to have horrible luck lately Liz. You poor gal.

But I tend to agree with fuel pump, if you can turn it over and no start...

Can you hear the pump prime when turning the key to the "On" position?

My fuel pump went out in my 96 ACR with busy traffic! :cussing:

Basically, if the car is turning over and everything but its not starting, even with a jump..then its more than likely your fuel pump.

couldn't it just be the fuel pump relay? im not disagreeing that its the pump, because if its going bad, it could kill the relay, but still, just thinking it could probably be the relay too, right? plus its like 5 bucks compared to the 100+ for the pump itself.

Yes I would try that first also but they usually just go bad and not act up.

If you switched relays and it started right up then its probably not the pump. I would suggest switching relays first, then diagosing it further. You said it has no spark as well? Or did you mean it just wasnt starting?

mine does this too every once and awhile...it did it about a week ago and when it did i just took the airbox lid off and it worked....the air filter isnt dirty at all though so i dont understand why it does it.

well i guess ill bring it up then... dont want to be the doom and gloom guy but here goes...

you said it has no spark. and from what i remember from the last thread you said you replaced the wires and coil pack... well there is only one other thing telling the coil to fire and that is the PCM... check your harness like the guy in the post you referenced did and see if that helps... if not you may have a bad PCM albeit rare... it still can happen. maybe an update from DCX?

hope its not the case but just throwing it out there...

Actually it could be the crank or cam position sensors going bad too.

Exactly, we are all throwing out idea's and suggestions, but without having the car in your hand its hard to tell exactly whats happening. I personally would also check out the ASD relay since it powers up the coil, injectors, fuelpump, etc...
