Trunk won't shut

I swapped out trunks like 4 months ago, install went smooth. But I noticed right away when I open my trunk with my key, it shoots open due to the weight being gone from the spoiler. Doesn't really bother me at all, just haven't gotten around to adjusting the springs in there. Well anyways enough of my BS.

I was going to work and I had a bunch of stuff in my hand including my keys and I accidentely pressed the trunk lid button twice on my remote. So it shot open. This has happened before so I thought nothin of it.

I go to shut it, and it won't shut. So I looked at the mechanism in there and it looked like the hook was stuck or something. I had no tools with me so I tried to open it up and shut it. But it would not budge, did not want to lock in. :flame: So I ended up tieing it down with a shoe lace.

Has anyone else had this problem? What do I need to do to fix it? What part do I need to fix it?

Thanks.

Yes, I have, and you have to use the key to pry the locking mechanism in the latch open, easy as pie, will not damage it.

Also, if you WANT to, I can swap you trunk springs, mine suck being the stock neon, my trunk doesnt even open up when I press it... wanna trade? :D :D :D

Sure!
I tried prying that hook open with my key, no success, I will try a flathead in the mornin' :banghead:

So wait, you put your key in the hole and turn it and shit? Or are you talking about on the hook thingy that grabs that bar?

Thats what I was thinking about doing, it crossed my mind, but I didn't want to waste gas going out there, since its pretty far away from me. Besides, I already ordered it, since it was over $100 ($117) I had to prepay for it. The manual one was only $48 but he wasn't sure if it would fit or not, and if it didn't there would be a 20% restocking fee, which isn't too bad, but it would be another hassle to deal with. Don't worry about it man.
Thanks for the kind offer. I really don't need to swap out locks with the piece I am getting.
