So i was sitting in traffic today on my way to the beach for a week and as i started in stop and go traffic my cold air intake made a weird noise and the engine just started reving randomly and my temperature guage jumped to 3/4. So i turned off my engine and opend the hood and one of the couplers was loose and half way hanging off so i put it back on and tightened it up, then like a mile down the road it did it again. Then i got out AGAIN and tightened it up more. This time my car seemed to run fine and the needle for the temperature gauge was at the 1/4 mark where it usually is.
Can anyone give me advice on if i should continue my trip or get it checked out at a mechanic.

What kind of CAI?
when was your last coolant flush and fill
check your coolant lines
But you said your car is fine now, so I guess you fixed it?

Depending on which coupling was loose would be the cause of the revving. If it was between the manifold and the TB then that's your answer as air was leaking past your TB, eliminating any control that the TB or IAC has. If this is where your leak was then you're lucky it didn't fall off. Not the best way to obtain WOT. As far as the temp rise I can't say for sure. If we still had carbuerators on our cars I'd say it was due to being lean, but your o2 sensor should have made up for the vacuum leak which it likelywas due to the fact that rpms increased. If it didn't then the engine would have run rough or fell on its face. If the problem went away then I wouldn't worry too much.

its a injen intake and actually i just had a inspection yesterday so you would think that they would have caught that so i really think that if they would have caught it if it was major, and thats why i think that it was just that coupler

maybe those who did the inspection did it actually... can you show us a pic of what it was that fell off/you put back on?
